Confused as to what is going on here.

The iphone 4 is no less of a phone than any of the previous iphones, what makes you think it is?

was being a sarcastic moaner wasnt i , because there was an iphone4 thread in here that was getting interesting but then got moved to the apple section and merged into the 4gs thread where we will never see those posts again:p

I can't believe there's a thread about this problem...

i cant believe theres a post about your problem with the post about that problem about that thread... ;)

my point was does ONE thread in here really cause a problem ? seems from the posts above that most of us never go in the apple section (hell im on my macbook now yet still never go in there...)

Indeed, the only reason I've been going in there is to look at iPhone stuff other wise I wouldn't set foot in there so to speak.

As ManCuBuS said there are still 2 iPhone threads on the 1st page of Mobiles, either move them all or none surely.

Herd the flock into one area I say!

That forum is annoying. Too many people agreeing with each other due to their mutual love for everything Apple.

The problem with most iPhone owners is that they do see themselves as a bit different and I can't count the number of times I've heard them use the word iPhone when just Phone would be appropriate.

Saying all that, if the signal issues are sorted on the iPhone 4 then due to it's build quality and the fact that I know it can do everything I want from a phone, I'm going to get one. I currently own a Hero and although it is a very good phone and I find it hard to fault, the media player aspect of it is fairly limited. I think I'll revisit Android in a years time.

There you go, I've decided to buy a phone using logic and elimination not just because it's a shiny bragging right.

I think it's a good thing, although it doesn't stop *all* the Android fanboys coming into the Apple forum for a good ol' trolling session.

A nasty side effect, given that Android is the only decent competitor to iOS, so it was always going to be the case that it would take over the MP forum if the iPhone was moved up the page.

Please, for the love of god, let Meego be half decent.

I did ask for the thread not to be moved when I made it.

Hardly an unreasonable request and we had a decent enough discussion going with limited iPhone-bashing.

:/

And as said, it would appear it stops being a phone the second you pick it up :p

I have to admit, when I wrap my hands around my 3GS I lose half the signal.

I just assumed I had fat hands. :o

Yup I agree, why move it? There was a nice discussion without all the obsessive posts. Some good information for those interested in phones. Now It's been moved I don't think i'll be bothered to actually go into the other forum and discuss it.

Obviously you were too subtle for me, I was utterly confused by the thread.

Only 3:
iphones
android
unimportant

:p

But then that is just compounding the problem. Why seregate even more the phone section. There should be one section where you can post about every phone on the market, including iPhones. You want to buy a phone? Most people will look at all the options before buying and choose the one that is right for them, be that a Desire, HD2, iPhone etc. Just because there are a few Apple and Android fanboys around doesn't mean we should all suffer.

It was a comical response to the statement we would need loads of sub forums, I wasn't being serious lol

I agree, phones are phones and should be just kept in this section.

I also agree the bigger problem is the "fanboys" bashing other suggestions all the time, I have no real loyalty to any brand or OS but it does annoy me when people completely slate something as the worst thing since auschwitz purely because they prefer something else.

Most comical thing I have seen is when someone asks for a simple phone for doing just calls and texts and then they are bombarded with replies talking them into all singing and dancing smart phones.

In an ideal world advise should be impartial with both positives and negatives outlined but that will never happen.

As much as you may think this is a joke, it has been confirmed by Apple as being correct.

What a stunner.

LOL

You'd think they'd test for this before puttng them on sale, one of the selling points reviewers said on the new phone was that the signal issues had been much improved which is clearly not the case.

Why do so many people go mad over wanting an iphone ??

Am i missing something as i see nothing special at all about them

98% of people get one because they're fashionable, and because they don't know there's anything better on the market.

In answer to the OP, the iPhone never was a phone. I'm sure the fact that it makes and receives calls is fairly low down the list of priorities for most people who buy one.

The issue we have us that the mac is a laptop, the iPhone is a phone and Ipods are mp3 players. Yet they all belong in the same section and not 3 separate ones because of their common themes, compatibility and target demographic.

Not an easy call, but the admins have made their decision.

So why aren't WinMo phones moved into the Windows section, or Linux based phones in the Linux section?

It makes sense that the iPhone discussions belong in the same place as those of its competitor smartphones.

im pretty shocked at there response to this issue. especially as a left hander who was considering one. totally ridiculous of them to just say ''hold it a different way''

They ain't really phones, just awesome fashion accesories.

Everyone wants one, not even tech savvie people. Because they look good, everyone has one and they want to keep up with the Jones's.
