Halfords HP1400 Pressure Washer - recommended!

Afternoon guys

I use a bucket, sponge, and garden hose to wash my cars.

I was in Halfords today and they have had these pressure washers 1/2 price for ages, but always out of stock with regards to cheapest one.

Anyway bingo! Found one today and bought it, used it to wash three cars and it's not fantastically powerful at 70 bar but more than capable of blasting flys and bird pop harmlessly off the paintwork of a car! Does wheels quite well too!

Go out and buy for the sake of only £40 BARGAIN!
 
At £40 it's fine. I spent £150 on a Halfords pressure washer for the sole reason that if something went wrong all I'd need to do was pop to Halfords for a replacement part. Something did go wrong, took it back to Halfords, and I was told the company that makes the parts for there pressure washers has closed and they can't get the part. So now I'm left with a £150 peice of junk that I've had for 14months.

Looking for a Karcher now.

harmlessly? are we sure? I would think any solids are going to get blown against the paintwork. I know I have seen the odd piece of grit from the floor blown up against the bodywork which isn't something you want happening.

Stop being a fanny! It's a pressure washer not a sand blaster, it's powerful enough to remove crap but not overly powerful that it removes paint.
 
I didn't say that the pressure washer was going to remove paint, I did say that surface solids would be blown against the paint. How is it a good thing to blow bits of grit that tend to come with the mud against the paint work?

Do you know much about pressure washers? I want a Karcher one just to wash the cars and do the garden - don't want to spend more than £150. Thanks.
 
I have the Nilfisk which was recommended on detailing world a while back, metal impellor or something in the pump which is better apparently!

It was cheap at Range, and even cheaper when I haggled as one of the bits was missing!.

Clearly your not much of a pressure washer warrior, what you're describing is actually just something someone stupidly careless would do, in the same way that someone stupid would sandpaper to dry their car.
