Asus rampage III Extreme

am such a clutz, i messed up the reinstallion and deleted the 100mb partition too. i managed to get an image system restore but i my AS SSD score for my c300 has dropped, but thats it i dont wanna fiddle with it for a while, just waiting on ur score to see if my numbers are normal :P thanx in advance vortx

Just a update i contacted asus Rma department about my
rampage 3 mobo with bent pins in the cpu socket.
they said they will repair the board if im willing to pay.
im very happy so far with the response from them so looks like
i dont have a big door stop after all.
will let u guys know how the repair goes. ;)

Good news, lets hope the charge is reasonable. Good luck with it.

Hi Dazboots,

Can you let me know who you contacted please. I have an asus mobo with the same problem. I tried contacting ASUS but they said that they dont do repairs on CPU sockets. I must have got the wrong department.

Cheers
Chris

Would just like to say i hear a lot of ppl complaining about asus.
i would just like to say this is my first time in RMA something to asus.
and so far they have been bloody quick in sorting this problem out.
i have had a email saying there going to waiver my logistics fee
and only charge me for the rapair. im very happy with this
turnout because i damaged the cpu socket pins and they really didnt have to help me. will keep ppl informed on the out come but so far ((Nice 1 asus)) ;)

i just filled a form out here .

http://rma.asus.de/pick_eu/uk/

Tbh m8 there helping me out because i had the board 3 weeks and because its so new thats why there offering this service.

this is what he said .
i understand you are having some problems with regards to getting your CID board repaired.

We can offer a paid repair but please be aware there is a chance that it won`t be repaired successfully. There is also a risk of design alteration or even product damage.

It is not usual process but in this case I am willing to waive the logistics fee’s and get the board sent via our UK office.

so tbh m8 good luck if they help u but like i said because the board is so new and just released thats why there willing to help me out this time only .

I had recently purchased a Rampage III Extreme (from another online vendor) and within 24 hours the NIC died.

I had to RMA it :-(

I primarily bought it so I could run my 5870 Croosfire setup with Zalman VF-3000a after market coolers.

FYI as this is an extra large ATX board but not quite E-ATX in size, it did fit into my Lian-Li PC-B25FB.

Can't wait for my replacement to arrive...

can any1 please confirm with me if my vga results are normal with me running all at stock and ram xmp profile 2000mhz, . because i think my ATI 5970 is corrupted are those numbers correct ?

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

well i really dont know where to start >.> i would like to run a 4.2ghz with my ATI 5970 black edition from 725 to 1000 mhz but the problem i never oced dunno how and worried about the parts since, i ordered everything from ocuk to dubai. RMA will be a big pain

Hi all

Just a quick question.
What are the best CPU HSF's out that will fit this board without clashing with any of the boards heat sinks or Dominator ram fins???

Well I have my i7 980X overclocked to 4GHz on this board with a 1.25000 CPU Core Voltage and my RAM set a 1904MHz but i`m not going to push it any further at the moment as i`m not very happy with my temps.

My CPU temperature reaches around 76C on almost all cores when heavily stressed and I have tried re-applying my Arctic Cooling MX-3 Thermal Compound and resetting my cooler around 4 times with no real difference.

I use the Vertical Line method of applying thermal paste.

One thing I have noticed when taking off the cooler, the thermal paste on the CPU seems not spread properly and what looks like little bubbles in some places.

I`m not sure what i`m doing wrong as i`m folowing the applying thermal compound instructions on the arcticsilver website below, putting the Vertical Line
of thermal paste down the middle of the CPU and puting the cooler on top and and screw the cooler down and allow the cooler to spread the thermal paste.

Maybe there is something wrong with the Arctic Cooling MX-3 Thermal Compound I have.

Also my North Bridge temperature reaches just above 60C and South Bridge over 50C when stress testing for a while which seem high.

Yes it's summer but I just don`t like the temps.

When removing the MX-3 it will always appear to have bubbles in it.

NB/SB reaches 60C on this board quite naturally, thats why I got myself the EK block, went from max 75C/67C to 40/39C.

For the MX-3 just use one blob, rougly the size of a pea, smack bang in the middle of the CPU and when you put the heatsink on make sure it goes on evenly and screw it down so that all screws go in at the same time, don't just screw in one all the way, then do another, do them bit by bit going around in a circle until they are all tight. I did exactly the above and my first 3 core temps are exactly the same on Load, and the 4th core is only about 4C out, but this is expected.

Would you say my CPU temperatures are ok or a bit high???

Two of my cores stick to around 66C and so I would be more
happy if all cores where around that temp.

If I was to get myself the EK block as well, would having the NB/SB a lot cooler improve overclockability of the board considerably and stability of the board???

Sorry for sounding dumb with this question but as EK block is a water block, you don`t need a water cooling kit for this do you???
