Do you reckon we will ever get another one? I have watched every episode but never rewatched them in any great numbers. Quite like watching old voyagers and DS9's when there on Sky but really would like a new series of Star Trek to get my teeth into.

I personally would like to see a new series set on a star ship either based in the new JJ universe or a new futuristic enterprise based after DS9 voyager etc.

Has there been any rumours as I cannot find any?

If there is one, and i surely hope there is in time, it will be a good while yet 4 maybe 5 years. they will never let the franchise go, a slow trickle of new generation movies will follow over the next 6 or 7 years but a tv series is not the way foreword at the moment.

Star Trek needs a break, it was on the TV for a good eighteen years solid (and had some fantastic episodes in that time) which just led to the whole thing feeling very tired by the end.

I would be very surprised if there is no new series but I feel that they should wait a good few years before doing it again. Don't forget that there was almost twenty years between the Original Series and The Next Generation.

It'll be a fair few years till we see another series, new JJ startrek did well so we can expect a couple sequels.
Give it 5-8 years before we see a future Trek a couple hundred years beyond ST:TNG and it'll start all over again:)

There has been some interest I recall a director and few other scifi top dogs hinting they would like to do a new tv series set in the new Trek peroid.

But I agree with the others as much as Id love too have a new show, reckon it will be a long time till we have any would be lovely too have a show continue on from the 24th or 25th century with a new Enterprise, but for now will have to make do with SGU :)

If they do a full on reboot of the Original Series I will cry. I wouldn't mind seeing a different ship set in the 23rd Century but I would hate to see a show with another Kirk, Spock and McCoy.

I hope they dont do another series for a while. Trek had a massive hit when TNG came on after so many years of no series and the series has been milked to death for now.

If they do it in the "old" timeline then new fans will get confused when they see the new films. If they do it in the New timeline they'll not get the chance to make new films. Bearing in mind how massivly successful ST was, they'd be made to do a series, the budget just wouldnt be there to do it justice.

Let it rest and stick to churning out a film every 3-4 years with a big budget.

Would love to see Trek done in the style of a massively epic story arc from the beginning. A la Lost, Heroes, Dexter etc.

Indeed, or more appropriately, like Babylon 5. The problem with Trek was that there were always way too many fluffy filler episodes. DS9 for example became awesome in the 4th season when they actually had a big story arc...

just fill the ship with hot Betazoids and half naked vulcan girls, and a few ex-borg female drones.

Enterprise was a good series though, I really liked it .. far more than I like TOS in fact

Personally i didn't find Enterprise half as bad as what people make it out to be. Although it did go off on a bit of a tangent in season 3.

How can it be Scott Bakulas fault anyway lol. The guy is a decent enough actor, i think any blame should really be with the scriptwriters/producers/studio tbh.

The latest Star Trek film was a huge success. There is already a sequel being made ofc, and i can see more coming after that every few years.

I think its unlikely a full fledged series like TNG/DS9/Voyager being made anytime soon though. Although i'd be happy to be surprised if there is a decent series pitched.

As has been said, the fact that they had 4 full series more or less one after the other, thats 25 seasons of episodes, it shows there must be demand. But to much of something can make it a stale format.

The new film sort of reinvented it to be flashier. I can see a new series reinventing trek again, as tng and even ds9 did.

I wouldnt want too see a show set in the new time line I reckon they built such a large scale show from tng/voyager/ds9 it would do it a injustice.

Id much rather see a show set in the late 24th or 25th century showing the after effects of Romulus/Vulcans destruction....Put them right in the middle of a mess, being as Klingon and Federation are the only 2 major players left.

It would have to be set on a starship also, but yeah they would need to set about a major arch storyline. Even cut it down to 20 eps or 15, no time for time fillers or riker flash back episodes, and go eco on the budget/Cgi just like how SgU is doing so. It would have to be one delicate operation !

But I agree 100% has to be an arc and major continuing storyline, with major surprises and shocks also. Ds9 had it towards the end and we all know Ds9 was amazing because of it.

I actually though Series 3 of Enterprise was one of the best series in all the Trek's, the Xindi trying to destroy earth and Archer pretty much doing what ever it takes to stop them...pure epic!
No filler episodes in the entire series story arc...this is how Star Trek should be made, not lots of one off crap when they save the day by inverting the warp core plasma conduits for the billionth time:rolleyes:

I'd agree with the plot arc point tbh, longtime arcs are the way forward. DS9 did that the best i thought, especially with the Dominion War.

While the Xindi arc was a full story, it could have been done in half the time imo. Allot of the episodes in that arc were filler tbh. They just extended it over an entire season by having the ship limp from one clue/source of information to another.
