Does anyone have experience of these? Very expensive but could be worth it. Although at the price they are I'm just after something similar. If they cure my saddle soreness then cost isn't an issue. Have yet to find a bad review about these, but as I said £160 makes me think twice.

Have been told that they are excellent, but again the price puts me off.

However, a number of people who do use them also highly rate ShuttVR bibs, saying they are 95% as good as Assos, but are half the price (they have standard bibs for £30, but I don't think they have a pad in them).

Wore some Castelli Cervelo 2009 Training bibs today. Excellent. So much so that I ordered the matching jersey. I'm going to be out on the Cervelo wearing Cervelo Test Team kit; I may as well paint a target on my back.

Well I was also reading rave reviews about the Castelli Free bib shorts, which are £40 cheaper. Trouble is I guess without a bit of regular use to try, I won't really know will I.

I like that Shutt are made in the UK.

i've heard said in several places that the saddle fit is much more important than the shorts - the Assos are supposed to be great but won't fix a bad saddle.

^The knowledgeable folk at Bikeradar also seem to think changing my saddle first is a better idea.

Not sure where in Cambridge I could get a saddle fitted.

Do you use any chamois cream? I've read that it is a significant boost in alleviating saddle soreness, particularly on long rides.

Not at all no. Something else I'm going to give a go, especially on longer rides, although the main problem I have isn't irritation from rubbing, or chafing. The biggest problem I have is my perineum gets incredibly sore. Going to get fitted for a saddle asap, and then think about new shorts.

Please keep us updated on the saddle fitting and your choice of a new one. I also get pain in the perineum area from cycling. I don't usually feel it during a ride, just at the start and end.

most decent LBS will have a pad thing to get a imprint of your arse and give you an idea of what will fit you better.

I took a chance on the charge knife and have been very pleased with it after having the same problem you are with a Selle Italia XO. Puts my weight onto the sit bones where its supposed to be.

Overpriced for what they are, i have 3/4 length roubaix mille f1's and don't get me wrong they are nice but for price/performance i really do love my endura fs260 3/4 bibs, better pad too though there is a year or two so things might have changed since.
