Personnally I'd say your selling it short calling it a wow clone however I can see where your getting that from. Movement, turn-based combat etc.
However unfortunately due to the severely limited trial that you have been given you really can't get to experience much. Most if not all classes are rather boring and run of the mill until atleast lvl10 when they get to choose a their sub class, and even then most classes still don't really liven up until your about lvl20.
And then there's the fact you need to be lvl25 to get into the Abyss to check that out.
It is however a grindy mmo, but at the same time it can be a bit more challenging than most. Personnally I think the game has potential (assuming up coming patches include what they promise and come out quickly), but then I also said that about Age of Conan (which if they ever managed to make it smooth, fluid and remotely balanced it still could be great).
I'm certainly not disagreeing with all your points and infact I'm, more pointing out that the trial they offer is next to uselss. Why couldn't they just give a normal 5-10 day trial for the game like most MMO's do. That way players would have a chance at seeing the game open up and be able to tell if it over comes the short comings found at the early stages of the game.
The neutered trial has coloured my view of Aion, unfortuinately. I certainly don't want to lay out the £25/£20 for a 'months' trial to see if I like the game. If its comes up on on a Steam offer, I may try it again.
However, one positive thing I will be doing is putting a full and proper feedback to NcSoft over the trial stating the limitations of the trail have put me off. As suggested, a 14-day unlimited trial would be much much better.
Another plus point however in Aion's cap is the cutscenes. I love cutscenes (even watching them for the millionth time), they really add atmosphere to your quests.
