Letdowns
MGMT
Vampire Weekend
the sound on the other stage if you were more than about 30 rows back, esp during florence/machine
Missing the secret thom yorke gig

You went to see pet shop boys over muse :O. After seeing their performance on tv I cant wait to see muse at T in the park.

I was there! Half dead today though. We left at 1am this morning to come back. Got out the car park in about 5 - 10 minutes

Highlight for me would have to be Kylie. I love her, and it was brilliant to see her looking so hot. Shame she didn't sing more songs. The Pet Shop Boys were immense as well. Would have liked to see Muse but decided otherwise.

Lowlight was falling over and cutting open one of my legs, and my other knee. Spent an hour in the medical tent whilst waiting for them to clean it up (fell over on one of the dusty paths so didn't want to take any risks with trying to do it myself, plus it blooming well hurt!) and missed most of the Snoop Dogg gig as a result :(

Oh and I was robbed of £3.50 for a tube of pringles! won't be making that mistake again!

Another highlight would be the faithless gig, I got really close to the front then, would have been lovely if it hadn't been so sodding hot, but i'd take that over mud any day.

Sorry I didn't come to the meet up, the footy was on at that time though wasn't it?

Will definitely be trying for tickets for next year when they're released.

Have had two showers today so far, will be having another before bed, and going to bed very early tonight. Have never appreciated simple things like hot water and clean toilets so much in my life. Even shaking salt out onto my tea just now I was like "Salt on proper food!"

I didn't go - but I saw Muse on TV and that was pretty much all I wanted to see :p

I didn't feel it was as good as the 2004 gig though  It was missing an epic ending and guitar/drum smashing :p

By the way - Pet Shop Boys over Muse? I lol'd :p

I'm not really a big Muse fan, whereas I know a lot of the Pet Shop Boys classics. They really did put on a good show, and I guess thats the beauty of festivals, theres something for everyones taste. It's not always about going to see who you "should" more about who you yourself want to see.

Same as I was one of the 20,000 who packed into Avalon Field to watch the Wurzels - they had to shut the field entrances in the end for safety reasons - they aren't everyones cup of tea, but they're a bit of fun, and I enjoyed myself.

:)

I was there :)

For me highlights were:

The Black Keys (they were awesome)
Slash (I have seen Slash play Sweet Child O' Mine :o)
Muse
Seasick Steve
The Dead Weather
Toots and the Maytals
Frank Turner

down... er... lights:

I don't want to say it as a non rainy Glasto was awesome.. but... the Sun in the middle of Saturday.

I'm very light skinned and Saturday afternoon watching Seasick Steve and then the Dead Weather damn well near killed me, I was literally destroyed by the heat. And of course theres that horrible feeling of layering suncream on every hour or so... i really REALLY hate using suncream...

Saying that, i'll be back next year and i'll take another scorcher over rain any day or time of the week :D

Ooo I suppose you're right!
I saw the first song they did (Can't remember what it was - but I think it was a cover) but it was pretty good :p

Best festival I've been to by a massive margin, and I've been to about 5
Some misc highlights:

mariachi el bronx. INSANELY COOL!
Bonobo was amazing,
When Snoop Dogg came on for Clint Eastwood.
Chilling at the west holts stage,
(forgotton first name) airhead at the circus big top. (incidentally, the circus acts I saw were all amazing.)
The england game watching it with 50000 others on a field. When the 2nd goal went in and everyone thought/knew it was in was electric. Even though it was denied, the mass euphoria will stick with me forever.
Rolf Harris was brilliant too :D
Rodrigo y Gabriela. These two are so talented it is amazing to think there are only two of them when it sounds like there's a full band with percussion etc helping out.

Managed to walk past at the right time for:
Reef Place your hands.
Dizzee when florence came onto the stage
Stevie wonder for Superstition
Scissor sisters when kylie came on (not that I care about either, but it was a cool moment).

such a serendipitous weekend, my only regret is not knowing about Radiohead playing.

ARCADIA - MOST INSANE PLACE I COULD EVER IMAGINE.. so good!

I hadn't realised there was so much to do as well as the music, they truly cater for every taste imaginable.

Surprised MGMT were disappointing, they're supposed to be amazing live? Vampire Weekend too, seen them a couple of times and thought they were pretty good.

Going to Oxegen myself, pretty excited.

How did you get such an awesome job?!

I have been watching the highlights on the beeb this weekend. Some of the artists were fabulous and the crowd was really into them, when Florence came on stage for Dizzee, well most of Dizzee tbh, but they were let down by some odd choices. As much as I love the Gorillaz they really aren't meant to headline a festival.

Best video I have seen was the Ray Davies set. Absolutely love the Kinks and it was great to see the crowd getting into it.

I went, just got back! A truly immense festival not bested by any other in my opinion.

My Highlights

Snoop Dog
Black Keys (AMAZING)
Fatboy Slim
George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic (turn up the funk!, turn up that funk)
Faithless
Stevie Wonder

also I found Crossiant Nerf and the Park area amazing.

still buzzing

Definitely NOT cool !

We left straight after Stevie Wonder (had already packed up tents and loaded car in the morning), got to the car just after midnight and it took us 2hrs to get out the car park. A couple of friends who left the same time as us got home about 90mins before us as they were parked West not East. Doubly annoying as on Wednesday despite coming from East we deliberately tried to come in from the West to park there, only to be diverted all the way up to East 2!

Speaking of which queuing to get to the gate on Wednesday was a nightmare, we arrived about 9:30am but had to queue on foot with all our bags for 4hrs just to get through the carpark to the gate, then trekked over to find a pitch. My mate who has been the past 8 years said he'd never seen anything like it and thought coming early on Wednesday would see us get a good spot, I think the England game put paid to that idea! It's a festival, so, queuing at the gate etc is to be expected but when you come a 'day early' you don't really expect that much hassle simple reaching the queue in the first place!

But enough whining about the queues, onto the music:

Good
-Muse: I'm probably the only person in the country that thinks Muse are "kinda OK". Everyone else seems to love them or hate them. So when I say I thought their set was phenomenal I'm saying that as a relative neutral rather than a die hard fan. We were sat way back on the hill but the Pyramid sound system really did it justice, nice touch covering a U2 track as well (I almost cried, lol).
-Scissor Sisters: surprisingly good. Found myself getting in to it despite not really knowing many of their songs. Highlight of the festival for my wife I think.
-Slash: sounded good from the football field outside, lol :)
-Stevie Wonder: would have prefered to see Above & Beyond, Orbital, or Ash, but was dragged along to this. Not my type of music, but a good performance and enjoyable.
-Norah Jones: Great voice and played multiple instruments, what more could you want? Late afternoon summer timeslot suited her I think (unlike Faithless, just seemed weird listening to them in daylight!).

Disappointing
-Kate Nash: wife wanted to see her but she was shocking, worst 'gig' I have ever been to. People were just chilling out in the afternoon sun and because she didn't get a standing ovation for her first song or two started ranting "come on, it's glastonbury FFS!" or about how there aren't enough female songwriters. Well Ms Nash, you may or may not be a good songwriter, but you certainly aren't a peformer. Lyrics either mumbled or screamed, it just didn't work. See Norah Jones for an example of how to do it properly. To be fair, her 2 big hits (foundation and that cheese on toast thingy) went down OK at least.
-Stornaway: Had been looking forward to this but it all seemed a bit 'meh'. Definitely not helped by dodgy acoustics on the Park stage though.
-Biffy Clyro: What's all the fuss about? I missed The Cribs for this!
-MGMT: Again I think being sat at the side didn't help sound quality but we walked out halfway through to see Faithless instead, didn't do anything for me.

Should have seen Florence and the Machine as they covered a couple of my favourite songs (The Chain / You Got The Love), could kinda hear it from our tent but I missed out there.

Other general highlights was the sound at the Pyramid stage, I'm no audiophile but I thought it was terrific - even hundreds of yards away it sounds terrific. Far too many gigs I've been to can manage 'loud' but distorted music whereas Pyramid just sounded like it should do, amplified with no loss of quality.

My first Glasto, not sure if I would go again. I was expecting a much more chilled out atmosphere (based on what people had told me) but a lot of people seemed to be in a terrible rush. I like the music but the whole camping thing grinds after awhile and 6 hours is a helluva lot of time to spend in a car park :)
