Hi
Im in the process of building a pc for a m8 but he beats up his old one, to be fair the HP steel case is fairly solid and takes the beating quite well.
From experience most <£40 cases are built like drink cans, so im not sure what to get him. He's not bothered about a fancy looking one but it must be new and must be solid as a rock!

Any suggestions?

he doesn't game but its in a office of a car dealers and if he gets an error it gets a kick.

Simple solution, relocate the PC well out of harm's way. USB extension cables and 10m video leads are your friend ;)

The Zalman Z-Machine? Bit out of budget I know, but every panel is 4 or 5mm aluminium. He'd hurt his foot and quickly learn not to do it again...

Why are people recommending aluminium? Aluminium is far more malleable than steel and will bend very easily.

Here's a serious suggestion, I've got a mid 90's 3U rackmount case. It must be made of weapons/tank grade steel and weighs about 100KG. You certainly wouldn't want to go kicking it or hitting it as you'll break a digit or five. Try and find a cheap rackmount case, more often than not they will be this similar designed, thick steel reinforced shell that is practically bomb proof.

or you could just use a metal box....just stuff all the componenets in...make holes for buttons. like power switch and usb ports xD

Now where could you find a metal box that has cutouts for switches, drives and ports...

If only they made such a product.

Oh yeah, it's called a CASE.

Well simple answer is to get him an old case and just clean it up, Old cases are nearly all made from steel. So it's really ur best option as u'll find in the euthiast market a case weighting a lot isnt actually a good thing :P. Other than that coolermaster might be worth a look as they do have a few made from steel instead of aluminium otherwise i would suggest u go on a hunt for the cheapest case and see if its made out of steel. Then apply two brackets to the floor and securing the case to them thats the best suggestion i have ;P.

Get him a computer thats built into the monitor ala imac, I'm sure HP and Dell both make them.

e.g. eMachine EZ1601, Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z, HP Touchsmart

Alternatively one that will clip on the back of the monitor like the Asus Aspire Revo.

If it doesn't game and just needs to browse the web do a bit of processing then the Atom CPU might be good enough.

Need more info tbh as to what its going to be doing.
