Windows 8 plans leaked

lol face recognition, wish i can test one of these. maybe try print a picture from facebook and see if still recognise.

The won't work. It makes a wire frame of your head, so you have to move your head left and right for it to work.
Should be eye with special cameras or whatever :p

Seen they got that stuff in airports. Don't know if its eye or face or whatever.

A Windows App store could be interesting for the mobile phones/slates. Not entirely sure what benefit it would have for an actual PC or laptop though.

Maybe we'll see (optional) Windows Live ID integration with your local Windows user account which can pull down settings like wallpaper, IE favourites, accessibility options etc and mount your SkyDrive whatever it's called. That would be kinda cool I suppose for home users if you have a desktop/laptop/slate, but also kinda weird!

Webcam login sounds nice, although I personally would use that as two-factor and not to replace a password.

App Store... I've said for a while one of the best things about Linux is the repo, and it would be nice to see an interpretation of it on Windows and OSX. The problem is if MS just use it as a vehicle to peddle crappy apps for small amounts of money (let's face it, it works for Apple) then I don't see it adding any value at all.

On the other hand if it offers the sorts of software I'm going to be downloading anyway and integrates some kind of update mechanism then it's a win for everyone. Even if it's just as crude as a notification of an available update it would be a start. Automatic updates for Adobe software would solve a lot of problems for a lot of people.

A central update mechanism for most of my software would be fantastic, though for it to be worth it a lot of vendors would have to sign up to it. Would be a marked difference compared to Apple's App Store too. Don't just buy small apps, get your xxx suite here and don't worry about updates.

What would be really worthwhile is MS offering vendor's latest, full drivers for their hardware. Windows 7 does a fantastic job of grabbing drivers, but for things like audio and video it is usually MS bare-bones drivers that just get the job done. If you could get the whole lot - even better!

yes and it would be good if you could set up a profile so that each time you install windows you just log in and all the latest updates for your hardware are there and ready to download.
I tend to do a reinstall every couple of months and have considered just keeping all the drivers and that on my external HDD but then I think whats the point when everyone of them has a new update anyway.
This would making reinstalling windows less of a pain. It would also be good if you could custemize it as well and have diffrent pcs that you could choose eg HTPC Gaming PC ect.
