Hi,

I have just come to the end of an 18-month contract with T-Mobile. I am currently on Flext 30 (£30 a month) - This is £140 allowance, meaning 700 mins OR 1400 texts (or anywhere in between). This has included unlimited data. My mobile phone is the T-Mobile G1.

Being happy with Android OS I'd be happy to stay with an Android phone. Ideally I'd like a hardware keyboard but would consider one without. What phone would you advice? Best Android with hardware keyboard? If not, I assume HTC Desire is best?

I'd phoned T-Mobile and the best they seem to be able to offer is:

1) Keep existing phone but save 20% per month off current bill (Eg, £24 a month)

2) New phone on existing tariff (at existing price of £30 a month). If I do this T-Mobile want £60 for the phone

3) I've been offered an alternative: 24-month contract with Flext 35 (£28 a month) - This is £180 allowance, meaning 900 mins OR 1800 texts (or anywhere in between). The HTC Desire would be free on this contract. Note that at the moment I do not exceed my allowance and hence the additional £40 allowance would be of no real value to me.

Can anybody tell me how these offers compare to what you would expect? I am having trouble finding any decent prices (from any network) at this time. Any advice?

Additionally, another thought I am considering is to reduce the tariff price as much as possible as I am shortly to be relocating and do not think I will require the mobile as much as present. In addition my cost of living will increase and hence any savings on my mobile would be useful. Like many others, I guess, I'm very confused! I'm just wary not to keep on my current contract when I am out of contract and it is doing nothing for me (Eg, saving or new phone).

Thanks! :)

Laugh at them on the phone and ask them, how they even have the nerve to give worse deals than on their own website.

edit:

Look at their sim only deals to give an indication how bad that £24 a month offer was.

Thanks for the reply.

I guessed the online deals (1 & 2 above) were poor. How does option 3 stack up? It doesn't seem as bad as far as I could tell. Likely that I could get better?

At the moment I think I'm floating between that and going on a £20 SIM-only for a few months whilst I decide. After all, I assume I can use the booster for internet and I'll be no different to now (apart from the £10 saving in my pocket!).

Any other ideas? I'm guessing that if I stick with the G1 then it's a good idea to stick with T-Mobile (as all 'net things, etc, are set up and working well).

Cheers.

Im currently in the same boat as you, im almost at the end of my contract which finishes on da 18th of da next month. I spoke to soo many poeple at t-mob and all there deals are a joke compared to what you can find online.

Try that site. Soon ill be getting a 18month contract which si 25p/m from their and you get 300mins/unlimited text and once i get the phone ill call t-mobile and tell them to switch me on to their 3gb FUP net for adriod/winmo phones and so ill get my net sorted out aswell. If you need more mins you could get the same deal but on 24months which gives you 600mins.

Hope it helps.

P.S the phone is free aswell :)
