New graphics card - £200-230 budget

@ Arc@ss

I was going to put it with this bundle:
CPU: Intel Core i3 2.93GHz @ 4.00GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 CPU cooler

to throw something out there then, would I be better off Xfiring 2 5770's?

thoughts? would the performance be much better? im aiming to play games at max settings if poss.
I think the performance is generally better, except you get more problems and it's nicer to have the chance to upgrade with a second 5850 one day.

Personally, I would go 5850 - the Asus one at that - but the Asus is out of stock and OCuk have told me they do nto know when stock will be in for it (I am guessing never since I asked that about a month ago)

im not sure how your temps will hold up @ 4ghz with that cooler

lol i as just about to reply with:

Thanks guys

The thing with going xfire is you have to pay the extra for a more beefy PSU and a mobo with enough PCIe 16x (but thats not as bad now) and space which people don't seem to factor into the cost. But if you have all that already why not!

I think everyone does ;)

go for the cheapest card you can buy and overclock it :)

Dont spend the extra £25-£30 on a higher clocked card, not worth it :)

Hi jimbos,

I found some benches that included an 8800GT . . . . single card only!

Radeon™ HD 5830 . . . +78.2% faster than 8800GT @1920x1200 and £66 under budget . . . or spend the extra £66 for 24.6% performance increase!
