Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, previously referred to as Guitar Hero 6, is an upcoming music video game and the sixth main entry in the Guitar Hero series. The game is expected to be released September 28, 2010 for the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 consoles. Due to significant issues with poor sales of rhythm games in 2009, Activision, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock's publisher, has since dissolved RedOctane[2] and Neversoft's Guitar Hero division;[3] however, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock represents the last game in the series to be developed by Neversoft prior to the dissolution. Vicarious Visions developed the Wii port of the game which utilizes additional Nintendo DS functionality, though at present there is no stand-alone DS version of the game.

Are any of you guys looking forward to this game? i haven't really played any GH since i completed legends of rock then after that they went rubbish apart from the Metallica version that was ok. The only thing thats got me interested is this new quest mode

The major game mode in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is called "Quest Mode", which will be narrated to the players by Gene Simmons. Quest Mode is a career mode where the players attempt to complete songs and challenges to advance the story and game. It is based on a story where the players of the band are attempting to release the "demigod of rock" and his guitar from his imprisonment by "the Beast", gaining strength through bringing new members aboard the band.[5] Gaming journalists have noted thematic similarities between the story details of Warriors of Rock and Brütal Legend

What do you guys think?

I was pretty disappointed with GH 1, 2 and The 80's. Legends of Rock and Metallica were quite good... but i think they lost the plot with the tracklist for World Tour.

Im hoping Warriors of Rock will be a vast improvement on all of them really.

Not going near a gh game again. Bought the world tour and mettalica copies and the guitars broke very quickly. Considering i had the gh, gh2 and 80's on ps2 and those guitars are still going strong. The track lists and difficulty have been poor

I couldnt care less about the quest mode, its the set list that sells me on whether or not I buy these games. I dont think Ive ever watched one of the rock band or GH cut scenes, I just want to get on and play.
If you have to play through some convoluted story crap in order to unlock all the songs then I almost certainly wont bother.

As for the instruments, Ive got a couple of the newer guitars that have barely ever been touched, my trusty explorer has taken a serious amount of abuse and is still the only one I'll use :D .

Absolutely. I just don't get the GH thing. I play 99% quickplay and can't bothered with storylines or whatever. Who gives a damn if my guitar player has a new outfit. or a new venue to play at. They're all the same. I'm not even looking at the gfx when i play, just the jewels.

I'll probably get this, got all the other ones. Van halen one was alright but really was missing a lot of their best songs.
I hope the Wii conversion dudes make a decent job of it.

I'm interested because of the playlist, and I play GH every day of my life nowadays it seems!

I had serious calibration issues with GH5 and since this game runs on the same engine I assume I will have the same problems here too :(

Hoping the tracklist goes back to the kind of tracks that were found in GH2 and 3 rather than the pop trash that has been littering them recently.

Show me the track list but I'll say now I'm probably not interested unless the track listing is awesome.

Won't be getting this one :p

tbh I gave up on the guitar hero series. They seem more focused on bringing game after game after game rather than decent content and songs.

At least with RB I have all my tunes in one place. Even with the RB3 I am still going to be able to import songs from RB/RB2/RB DLC/RB ACDC/RBLego

Plus the RB game itself just feels so solid. Guitar Hero Smash Hits I swear you could play a note almost a second late/early and it would still say you played it in time. I also hated that stupid slide thing they put in worst idea ever...

anyways /rant off

Set list doesnt look great imo.

Only songs I want from the current line-up is Foo Fighters, Muse & Linkin Park :(

I really hate the Guitar Hero series now :( It's all "WARRIORS OF ROCK" and "GLADIATORS OF ROCK" - I want an honest rock game where you play, you get girls, do some drugs, and play some more :p

Some good tunes there :

Black Sabbath - "Children of the Grave"
Dire Straits - "Money For Nothing"
Foreigner - "Feels Like The First Time"
Metallica & Ozzy Osbourne - "Paranoid (Live)"
Queen - "Bohemian Rhapsody"
ZZ Top - "Sharp Dressed Man (Live)"

maybe another couple as well.

Erm, GH2 was the best one, before Activision and Neversoft took over. GH3 is good, but after that, they're all pretty meh. They should have stuck as 'Guitar' Hero and not gone with the band genre as that's why it became more popy, to appeal to the mass crowd.

I may pick this up on rental just to blast through the songs. Considering Fury of the Storm and Black Widow of La Porte are on there, I may play it for more than a day.
