97/99 Ron Petrol?

My car is not a turbo and it runs better on high octane, it depends what it was mapped for, NA/supercharged cars will benefit too if they can take advantage of it

My TT Supra ran better with V-Power, only ever had one tank of 'normal' fuel in the time I owned it and it resulted in a drop in MPG (almost 50 miles less to the tank based on average driving) and worse performance - didn't feel as responsive.

My 330 again has only had one tank of 'normal' fuel and again this gave a drop in MPG. I always run it on V-Power anyway and get about 550-580 miles to a tank on mainly motorway runs and A-Roads compared to the 530ish I got from the 'normal' unleaded.

I even tried some V-Power diesel in my 306 DT and it seemed to get MOAR MPGZ as well, though I'm not entirely sure why as it is such a primitive engine in comparison!

I would probably have been better running a couple of tanks of regular unleaded through and getting an average to compare to the V-Power figures I have but as it is only a couple of pence difference per litre, I always go for the V-Power so haven't had the opportunity!

Just my experiences.

i had to use 99ron in my astra after its compression was increased, cause it pinked with 95ron. mpg is only better because some ecus will lower enrichment settings and advance timing for a smoother running engine. for eg, flipping the ron switch on my car gave -15% full throttle enrichment and -5% at constant throttle position over 95ron. so it actually runs leaner if set to 98ron...
