I tend to only have a McDonalds if I'm desperate and there isn't anything better open.

About the only "hot" thing I actually like is their fries, and I'd much rather a mediocre chips than them most of the time, fish and chips beats a McD burger and fries hands down every time.

I'm dieting as well, so I do try and avoid all fast foods (especially the drunken kebab at the end of the night)

however, I do love their breakfasts, so I will treat myself every 2-3 months to pancakes & sausage and a hash brown on the side :)

Not mechanically reclaimed.

Flank and shoulder iirc.
It'll be from mass farmed stuff. But nothing as bad as people think.

If you know that then cool, I retract my lips and arse rings implication. However, you still wont' find me eating it though. The last time I had a taste the meat tasted bland, excessively salted and really not that nice.

I really don't get why everybody hates mcdonalds so much

Because people have a choice and some people know what good food is and don't really like poor quality food = fast food. Simples.

Sure it won't kill you, and from time to time can be enjoyable - nothing wrong with it at all. However, I and Im sure others, really aren't fans of how it tastes and prefer fresher, nicer cuisine. :)

It's on their website. http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/food/beef/big-mac.mcdj?dnPos=-363

Mechanically reclaimed meat has to be advertised as such. So we know it is proper cuts of meat.

Same I never eat it, but people do have the wrong impression of McDonalds and most other stuff.

Too right If I'm going to eat junk, much rather fish and chips for similar price. Which tastes fantastic and actually fills you up.

Have you ever seen those huge factory farms where they raise beef for the fast food industry in the states (not just for McDonalds)? huge pens housing thousands of cattle out in the desert. No grass. They have water pumped to them and guys spend all day driving around in pickups laden with feed, filling up feeders. I love beef (Huuurrrr), but that really made me start to stop and look at where the beef I'm buying comes from.

seeing as they are 100% meat, that's BS.

Taste doesn't lie. Big corporations do.
Their burgers taste like carpet, the burger might not have chemicals and crap in them (though they probably do), but the buns certainly do.

You'd also be surprised what actually counts as meat. Skin and organs are used to pad the burger out. I love offal, but not in a damn burger patty.
More than likely their meat is dehyrdated imported and then water injected, which is why it doesn't taste like meat.

Their burgers just don't taste like burgers should, dry, bland, carpetty, sweet and chemically aftertaste.
A burger should be juicy, meaty and flavoursome.

Cool - thanks for that. :)

How much of it is marketing savvy and truth it's impossible to tell, but my tastebuds do all the critiquing and analysis for me! :D :p

Mmmmm fish and chips.

Big corporations would be fined for lying about this stuff. sure you aren't tasting all the chemicals and sugar in the buns.

I'm well aware what counts as meat under UK law, Do you? There's a massive difference between advertising something as meat and advertising something as a specific cut with no additives.

Did you see the program Hugh Fearnley what's his face did with the people who were eating fast food and ready meals... and they took the stuff they were eating to a lab and the lab tech just started plonking containers of powders and chemicals down infront of the people and saying "that's your lunch that is".

Lol, that is a terrible generalisation.

My point wasn't that people chose to eat "better" food, I literally meant why do people hate Mcdonalds so much.

I dislike it, because it tastes rubbish and does not fill you up. For the same price you can get something far far better. Even a supermarket sandwich is better. Let alone a chip shop or a independent sandwich place.

Haven't been for years even the smell of stale chips that you get in them makes me wanna vomit.

I'd love for you to find me a sandwich/fish+chips for less than £1.20 sir :)

feeling a bit sorry for myself, earllier i had 2nr double cheese burgers and 2nr mayo chickens. i feel a bit sick now and wish i hadn't have bothered.

I haven't had a maccy's for years, reason why is it doesnt fill me and is a complete waste of money. I'd have a portion of fish & chips any day because it has much more taste and actually keeps you full for more than an hour.
