Is this PSU ok for a single 5870?

well when i had 4850 on stock cooling it was about 44c idle and 70-75 100% load

Ive read a few reviews of people who have their 5870 using stock cooling and getting about the same temp if not a little lower :)

My 5870 stock/idle 46c(that's in a tiny cupboard under the stairs though). I have a 9800gt green edition at 44c in the same set-up for hybrid phys-x.
If you are going to dual display the 5870 take note that stock/ idle temps rise about 10c.

I always tend to think that if you're someone that wants max AA, highest res, then that is when gaming rigs can cost potentially much, much more. For those like myself that want (almost) all settings set to the highest but aren't that bothered about a constant 60fps or 8xAA then it's not really an expensive hobby in that regard.

I see absolutely no reason to change my card just yet. More likely the cpu and mobo will get changed first and I'll leave the graphics card as it is.

I'd be a little worried over that PSU mate. Quite a few websites have done reviews on the PSU, and while it's a good performer, there is oscillation in the rails when put under pressure, which can damage components in the long term. Obviously it's not worth binning it straight away (It won't blow up or anything), but I would suggest looking at a different PSU in the long run
