Well, I'm after a new pair of shades to take away with me at the end of next month and I thought I might like a pair of Oakleys as I've never had a pair before.

I am of course after bargains so was looking on ebay for a used pair but am just a bit cautious about buying fakes.

the seller I am currently looking at states: excellent condition and original box, case and receipt included (all oakley)

there is a photo of the 'genuine oakleys' with the aforementioned box and receipt.

Now considering all of this and the fact that i hear that ebay is quite heavily weighted in favour of the buyer in dispute terms at the moment would you say it's worth a punt?

The seller is ofc 100% and uk based.

Cheers all.

i have purchased a lot of ray bans (fakes from china) as they are identical but fake, and im a cheapo

my advice would be to purchase in a shop, i don't know about oakleys, but the UK based raybans stink of the same fakes from china, yet they charge 3 x as much, i would be extremely careful, as some are so good, but the lens may not be protecting your eyes and you will never know,

clearly there will be tones of genuine pairs, but the fakes i have purchased for £15 come with all the polishing clothes and paperwork, its impossible for the untrained eye to tell

I was looking at new oakleys on there last night but wasnt 100% convinced whether I would get ripped with fakes so have decided to get a pair from a shop instead

go for it if you feel confident they are genuine

I bought some Oakleys from eBay and guess what - they were fake.
Luckily the seller had a 100% money back guarantee which incredibly worked, but he denied they were fake.
He had excellent (and huge) feedback so I felt confident buying from him, but as I already had a pair of the glasses I could instantly tell they were fake (they weren't even the right shape).

I'm sure there are honest sunglass sellers on eBay, but like memory cards, there ain't no way I'm buying those from there!

My younger sister asked me for some fake raybans for last xmas thinkin id spend £25, dad was like yeah she'll just loose them or break them.

So i bought her a £70 pair of geniune ones, she loves em to bits and takes very good care of them

Sure id have saved some cash and probably got shades that were just as good, but even when buying from my self i think id prefer the geniune article.. dammit i work hard and its a personal reward for my effort, the last person im going to cheap out of anything is myself. Doesnt mean i always buy brand name stuff but odd trinkets like watches and glasses that you only buy a couple of .. heck why not, same applies to buying an iphone actually.. people are liek omg its so expensive, yeah but im only buying one and im going to be using it for the next 18 months so dammit i wanna be happy with it

My dad incidentally bought his online, thought the shop was from the UK (it was in bangkok), thought the site was geniune because it was polished (it wasnt), though he was buying real shades cheap (they werent, but it was only stated on their returns policy page)

It's best to try them on before you buy, I nearly bought some Ray Bans online but decided to make a detour while travelling for work to try them on at the store. Turns out the Oakley's fitted me better and I changed my mind.

I bought real raybans, I intend to make them last 10-20 years though.

That is provided my car doesn't get nicked, got a sunglasses holder where the drivers side "Holy **** handle" used to go. So useful when driving though as I can't use the visor flappy things, too tall.

It's very hard to tell if you are buying real or fakes from eBay when it comes to sunglasses.

I knew a chap that used to sell fake oakleys when I was living in the US several years ago, they were identical down to the packaging etc.

I'd buy them from a known retailer if you want to be sure.

Fakes are probably terrible for your eyes..

Just get some £10 jobbies from Next, protected eyes, and they're cheap so you won't be worrying about them all the time

I only wear sunglasses for driving or whilst on holiday, or fishing etc

I've got a few cheaper pairs that are still going to see a lot of use although I mainly wear mine indoors as it lets people know you're pretty cool.

I guess i'll have to get my butt to the shop and try a few pairs out. I'm currently thinking something like the nanowire, or half wire, maybe some square whiskers.

cheers all, not what i wanted to hear perhaps but still useful.

Had my Ray-Bans thieved a few months back (not that I can prove it but meh, they've gone)
Just been on the rubens website and I do like the look of the Black /black titianuim "whisper" ones..
