Insurance companies really do take the ****

Perhaps they just dont want somebody with your risk profile? Infact there is no perhaps about it - they dont, so they quote a comical price. They can't lose, either you go away, which they are happy with, or you pay them £3k, which they are also happy with.

marks and spencer quoted me £16,000 for insurance on the VXR.

20 something year olds in fast FWD cars obviouslny didnt fit their profile :D

I'm 23 and Admiral want ~£850 for me to renew with the ST. It's about £100 more now that I have an SP30 :(

Gonna ring around some more specialist companies nearer the time, but I'm not holding out much hope, none of the 'mainstream' companies can get anywhere near Admiral

Mine is newer and you don't live in an area where they share a braincell between the majority :p I also have £200 compulsory and £150 voluntary with 11 years NCB.

Just out of interest, put in the postcode of SA12 6YN and see how well you fare.

I'm also 23 and Admiral have charged me £780 for the ST220 but like you no other company even comes close so I have no choice.

What really annoyed me was that I had a non-fault accident last year which admiral told me didn't cost them anything as the other party paid out, yet I have to pay an extra £100 for my insurance because of it. Ridiculous

Managed to get the price down a bit by "tweaking" my job title though, never put down a sales job. By adjusting my job title I saved £70!

should tweak it to a police man living in scotland ;)

I've just had my insurance renewal through from Flux. It dropped to £530 when I switched to the red 420 with mods declared and limited mileage.

Despite being 24 and having 4 years NCB, the renewal price is a stonking £1,300. I've not paid over a grand for insurance in 2 years!

I'll be ringing them up and giving them up an ultimatum for sure.

I'm 23, and it's cheaper for me to get an Mk2 MR2 Turbo ....

worth how much? £4k?

compared to a focus st worth £14k? (possibly under estimate just a guess to show comparatively the value of the insured vehicle)

and which do you think is more of a thief target these days? the 14k car that every chav and his brother would love to get their flthy mits on or a much lower valued Mr2... and yes i know most Mr2s go backwards through 10 hedgerows but even if it did the payout is lower than a focus ST anyway?

FWIW

i pay £700~ for a Corolla T Sport 1.8 with admiral on 10 month scheme including notification of TTE backbox and a couple of other things.

So someone has statistical proof that salesmen drive like tossers then?

That's one thing the Clio was good for, cheap insurance. £220 last time I renewed it, the Impreza isn't too bad at about £450.
