Why can't they insure it, though? The DM article just says ''it's a target for theives'' - any car is a target for theives and there are FAR FAR superior cars than a chrome Mini. If anything, it's less of a target. It's not a like chrome car is going to be difficult to spot.

Cost of anything happening to the bodywork I'd imagine. Odds are that repairing the paintwork would cost more than the car should be worth.

According to the auction lot details it has been 'chromed' though - this a specific process that isn't vinyl wrapping. They would have to mention in the auction if it wasn't actually chromed I would have thought.
