Kinect priced in the UK

This is going to drop in price quicker than DJ Hero. I don't think I'll even be picking up one until they drop to £50

Question is will the arcade 360 as we know it now still be around at the time of launch? I wont be buying it regardless of the cost but £130 is far too much money. Even worse is given that current 360 consoles are not Kinect ready and you need an adaptor will it come shipped with Kinect or will that also be more money?

I was under the impression that 'Kinect Ready' just means that the new slims can power the Kinect camera directly from the console, with every other console having to plug the camera into a power socket.

Yep. The new 360 can do power and data on one connector. Old 360s use a USB port and a mains adapter.

Far to expensive tbh. Although the only reason i would buy one is for dance central lol

Harmonix looks like its going to be on PS3 aswell, doubt it will be exactly the same.

I wonder about this price, it was first on the US sites at $150 at it was even listed as $150 on microsoft site, it was supposed to be a "place holder" price. Surely putting a T.B.C or something would be far better than a price that for many seems far to steep. On the flip side if MS has $150 as the price to retailers at the moment come GC they announced at under that price some will think its a better deal.
If it came with a game such as the adventure, dance central or skittles ate my kid then it wouldnt be as bad, but £129 and then £40 for a game is just too high and i cant see how MS would reach their 5 million sold before end of the year they want. So i expect a more reasonable £99 for kinect and £120 for it plus a game, ideally i would hope it will be £99 plus game.

It could be that MS done that deliberately to test the water on that price point.

Didn't they originally say they were going to try and price it around £50? I certainly wouldn't pay any more than £50 for one.

Even if it's "only" £50 it's still going to be an expensive addition. If you have the original style of Xbox 360's then as mentioned you'll need the adapter and then there's the games as well so it's probably going to work out at over £100 for the camera type device, the power adapter and a game. Ridiculous in my opinion, just like Move it'll be nothing more than a stupid gimmick with Microsoft and Sony trying to get in on a bit of the housewife action that the Wii was so good at. That ship has sailed in my opinion and nobody is going to give a rats ass about either system. Sure, some ADHD kids will probably want Kinect, and a few people will get Move but the amount of time and money these systems have had spent on them I think they are going to be failures.

I totaly agree.

Hope it's not gonna be out at that sort of price. As thats just plain stupid. The direct competitor is priced at £50

I've seen some reasonable arguments but don't try and argue Move is any better for price.

I was thinking of picking it up for me and my girls but at £50 for the basic set, £25 for a nunchuck then another £60 for a 2nd set then £40 for 1 game I'd be looking at £165 just for starters.

This argument reminds me of the xbox 360 price vs ps3 price. The arcade may be dirt cheap but you have to buy a bunch of stuff for it and it ends up being the same if not more than a PS3.

Entry point for wave is cheaper than kinect.

Carry on.

What doesn't surprise me any more is we're having a debate about how expensive MS Kinect might be as opposed how expensive Sony Move actually is.

Sony move for 2 players is £80 that is if you dont have the camera, its £64 if you do thats for 2 players. Navigators are £21 if you dont want to use a DS3, no move games require 2 wands at present. As i said it aint cheap for any of them (Wii included if you want a second player), but im not sure how much cheaper move could be as its pretty close to Wii mote/M+/ nunchuck price and it includes a recharchable battery. I aslo expect 3rd parties to start making their own version of each move controller, anyway How much is Kinect for 4 players?
