So I pop a CD into the player and whilst it plays the CD skips quite a bit.

When I take the CD out, it's bloody hot. If I let the CD cool down again and then insert it back into the player, it will play without skipping. This is only up until the CD becomes hot again and starts skipping.

Is it because it's a crap CD player or is everyone experiencing this?

In before the "NO I HAVE USB/HDD MP3 :D :D :D" ;)

It's because a lot of cheapo manufacturers don't use automotive grade components or design the units with cooling in mind.

I get something like this when the days are really hot with my parrot bluetooth kit, the screen is just white if the sun has been shining on it all day. Slightly annoying.

My crappy Alpine unit used to overheat in the summer and would start skipping when playing CDs.

Useless thing.

I have a crappy old Sony cd unit and it works just fine in the sauna that is the inside of my mini.

My Pioneer P80 gets ridiculously hot but doesn't miss a beat (no pun intended :p)

Even in Germany last week, 30ºc heat, long journey, no air-con, no problems.
