iphone 3g - dust under screen & lazy pixel

I've got an iphone 3g that I bought new in Nov 2008. Only recently I've noticed there's dust under the screen and it's recently developed a single pixel just above the dock that stays red. Obviously it's out of warranty now. What's the easiest/cheapest way of getting this sorted? I know apple have been known to replace phones with dust under the screen but I somehow doubt they would on a phone this old
 
I'd take it in firstly and see what they say, you never know they may replace it for you? Do that first and if they don't then spend some time rearching alternative options
 
I've just put down a deposit for an iphone 4. My sister wants my old 3g now and she's not bothered by it. If it does get any worse I'll ask. I've seen replacement screens online for £25 too. Changing them doesn't seen too complex so that could be an option too
 
Well i'll be getting my iphone 4 from the orange store in leicester which is right opposite the apple store in the shopping centre. i'll probably pop in when i'm over and have a word
