What To Do With My HP Office Jet D155xi Printer

Hey all,

The forums don't seem to have a dedicated printer section, so I have chosen here as the place for my printer related query.

I have just been given a second hand OfficeJet D155xi All in one from my uncle. Now, a quick google states that this was quite good when it first existed, although I haven't found any solid info on when this was.

Anyways, the machine is reporting scanner failure when it initialises and when I run diagnostics, it reports three faulty print heads. Now, having googled yet again, a print head is about £20 and the scanner problem can sometimes be solved by cleaning the scanner mechanism, so that's potentially a free fix.

Now to my question, what should I do with it? It seems to be a beefy printer and was rather expensive when it came out. But, checking auction sites only lists one faulty unit for £70, nothing working as second hand. I know nothing about printers so I am looking for advice:

Option A) Sell on internet for obvious profit but as faulty unit.

Option B) Attempt to fix scanner and source print heads (£20 x 3 = £60) then sell on the internet or locally as working.

Option C) Fix it and keep it for myself, it may come in useful.

I'm tempted by A and B, but I don't know if the outlay of £60 - £80 for parts is worth it. Will it sell for more? Looking for help from anyone with more knowledge with the whole printers thing...

Thanks in advance.

Doubt it's worth fixing. Printers are so cheap now, nobody buys them secondhand. I've been trying to sell a top end HP inkjet. It currently sells for £500 or so new, and I haven't been able to shift it for £80 with one faulty printhead (£60 to replace). Other than that it's mint.

Sorry to say mate i think you will have to junk it.. You could try and sell it. But cheap printers are that good now, you can go down the high street and pick up a top notch one for £100.

That's a bit of a shame. But I can see why this has happened, like you've said, printers are cheap these days.

I'll keep having a butchers around, might phone up my former employers and see if they want it for their recycling venture.

I disagree, Inkjets are not worth it, but 2nd hand Lasers are.

I do agree with junk it though! Can you even get the ink for it?
