Europe has signed a deal to hand over all bank transaction data to the US in order to help the ongoing war on terrorism.
The SWIFT agreement was signed yesterday in Brussels by Spanish minister for home affairs Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba and the US embassy's economic economic officer to the EU, Michael Dodman.

A tad ott if you ask me !

more like a war on freedom.

The terrorists want us to fear for our lives and so do the governments.
same goal just different people.

That's hardly the point is it? War on terror my arse - it's about power and control. An entire generation is growing up with eroded rights, waltzing into a big brother future where they know everything and you have no right to privacy.

Exaggerate much do you? ;)

Damn, I make regular rental payments to my landlord, who happens to be one of them Muslamic people, does this mean I can be expected in guantanamo any day now?

nothing to hide here
this is about the US snooping on the rest of the world tho, the war on terror is nothing but a power trip to them in control.
why on earth cant europe keep all this data and sift through it like the US are going to ?

Great, the 'T' word is being used again by our own governments for god knows what.

Though to be fair nothing's been approved yet, it got rejected last time.

Why, have you something to hide?

That's a rubbish argument.

You're right though, people shouldn't have any privacy on the internet, because everybody who demands it is clearly a copyright material stealing cracker.

Goodbye privacy, hello police state.

I don't recall anyone asking me if they could have that information... sounds like it could be brought to court under data protection laws.

What right does the US have to this information?

They're not the world police.

exactly, but that doesn't stop them thinking they are ;)

i'd rather my personal information was kept in confidence, and a police state was not the future.

however, it looks like it is an 'easier' way for governments to control the population, rather than a fair way
