Ebay screwed :( Ruined my month!

Ok so in March i bought 4 tickets for T in the park early bird camping.

Bought from a 100% feedback guy with over 3000 ratings who sells a lot of tickets on ebay.

So today i get an email. Basically for what ever reason his card declined when he first bought the tickets so he hasnt got any. And to top it off he is in no position to refund me. He finds that information out TODAY

I have been looking foward to this for ages and now its screwed. Paypal wont deal with me as its over 45 days ago ( thats my fault should have researched)

He said he will pay me back but he can only give me a set amount each month. Thats total rubbish. So i got my bank involved. I paid via paypal using a Debit card. They have told me they will probably be able to recover it for me but i have to ring after the actual event starts. The dude has apoligised a million times but its simply not good enough.

So im down £1055 and im not going to T in the park

Does anyone think i will have much luck with my bank?

Ouch thats bad to hear. One reason why ive never trusted ebay with more than a tenner!

He's had your pants down & because he is offering instalments to pay it back I "Think" there is very little you can do Legally.

if his card got declined why cant he refund you he hasnt purchased any tickets so he owes you that cash..like skillmister said I wouldnt trust ebay with at most anything more than £50

Yup they sold out in 90 minutes.

Its thursday-sunday tickets face value is £200.At the moment there £300 each on ebay.

Do people think my bank will be able to sort this for me?

Apparently he simply does not have the money to refund me. Angry is not word right now

So what has he done with YOUR money now that the transaction hasn't taken place? The instalments bit is really dodgy.

So you paid for an item which he can no longer provide and he has the balls to say ''he's not in a position to pay you back''?! That's just plain theft.

Im not taking the instalments. Ive let him know about the banks involvment and he said he will fully co operate with them.

As far as im concerned this is a fraud case. I am a bit worried as i only used a debit card and not a credit card

EDIT: he actually sent me the booking confirmation number he got from ticketmaster. If his payment was declined why would he have that? Although i have seen a few times with ticketmaster they dont take payment until a while after transaction

I don't use eBay but surely there's something to cover you. He hasn't sold you anything (he didn't have the goods). You should be demanding your money back. Don't accept installments.

Thats generally how buying tickets (from unoffical sources) for any festival goes as they arrive near to the date.

Speak to your bank/card issuer, there maybe something that can do or atleast give you so form of advice.

Perhaps small claims court could help?

Already have talked to the bank. They say they should be able to sort it out but i have to wait until after the event has started. Just incase some miracle happens and i actually get sent tickets .

I thought Paypal was supposed to protect buyers from things like this. Have you spoken to them?

I would never buy tickets off eBay for this (among others) reason.

I hope you get it sorted, its nothing short of a scam to be honest.
