Vtec Hondas.... is there much difference?

How do the cars I originally ask about compare in terms of 0-60

Which is the prelude to have? ( not a rare one but one easy to find)

If it must be a Prelude then a 1994-1996 (4th Gen face lift) with a 2.2VTEC Engine [imo]. These can be found as a normal or Si model. Si i think are lighter with a LSD and the others are usually 4 wheel steering hence added weight. There are different chassis codes for the different types of preludes but i cant remember what they are now, i think BB4 was the 4ws model?. Probably better to steer clear of 4WS models as it can go wrong and as these cars are 15 years old now you will get a few niggles.

Terms of 0-60, the Prelude is probably the slowest out of the bunch (if comparing to the Type-R's), although if your lucky enough to find a Prelude 5th Gen Type-S youll be pushing 220bhp so it might close the gap.

I think the EP3 is .1 of a second quicker to 60 than the last UK spec Teg.

You also get 4 seats for practicality. I see the EP3 as a nice balance between Trackcar (Integra) and Sold out bubble (FD2 no offence)

Minus point is like previously mentioned, the EP3 is the most common Type R on the roads. Maybe for a reason :)

Prelude vtec = cheap as chips but finding a one thats not half rotten will be a task. Get on preludeUK for more info, great place.

Given the choice i would have a teg over a lude i think but there was no way i could afford one, not that i don't love my lude, even if it is a total mess.
But then i'd take a b18'd/H22a eg civic over anything else any day of the week :D

The 5th gen Prelude Type S suffer's massively from scene tax where a 2.2 VTI can be had for generally half the price.

Also as I live in Wales also, be prepared to travel pretty far to find a prelude as their quite rare round here.

Edit: Specifically if you want a 2.2 VTEC / Manual.

There is a VTEC for all needs really! Amazingly the performance on all of them is fairly similar.

If you want a hardcore track machine you have the Integra DC2/5
If you need a bit more space then you have the EP3.
If you are on a budget then you have the earlier Civic VTi/VTis (3 door hatchs, 5 door hatches, saloons and the Aerodeck)
Want a bigger car with more space then there is the Accord Type R
[bias] or if you want cheap, comfy and fairly quick then there is the various Preludes [/bias]

I'm not sure about the newer Accords - I think they are really smart but did they make a full fat VTEC one (i.e not the economy VTEC)?

I had one of those manual imports LSD VTEC BB4 rare (apparently) Preludes and it was great. Pic here. I would have another one as they are exceedingly cheap now but trying to find a good one would be tough! A later model may be better.

EDIT - don't forget the CR-Xs as well! The original coupes are really sought after and the convertibles would be good in this weather - depending on the roof mech!

That's quite a good pub stat, but don't forget the Ep3 is about 100kg heavier than a Teg and has no LSD.

Not playing mine is better than yours, just putting some more facts in there rather than just some very one sided ones

Jesus H Christ almighty, Im getting rid of mine and buying a car with 4 seats. Rare as hens teeth these seat things!
