Anyway, up for grabs today we have yet another sig design

You will note the addition of the 'Space Sciences Division'

So its good for any of the following projects

Seti@Home - CPU, nvidia
Milkyway@Home - CPU, nvidia, ATI
Einstein@Home - CPU, nvidia
Orbit@Home - CPU
Cosmology@Home - CPU
Seti@Home Beta - CPU, nvidia, ATI

Which is handy as they are the projects I support, of course you are free to stick what you like in there.

If there's a conscensus that one monthly team donation is the way to go i am all for it, for the time i have been here there has been no finger pointing about stars/donations nor will i think there ever will be but at the same time we have to keep the importance of donations to the project alive, not an easy balance to strike.

I wouldn't suggest it should replace individual donations, whether starred or not - its more of an addition - trying to pool the smaller ones so that not so much is lost in fees. I was rather hoping that Eric (SAH) would come forward and be prepared to act as a conduit for such things, but alas it doesn't look that way!

Very good :D guess what I am about to pop into my mouth??????? :D (stop sniggering, we're supposed to be adults)!

As you are over the border I'll guess at Shortbread :p, but you are expected to make the switch at some point :D

:D:D

Well done on the 3750000 Toxic, beat me to that one. I now need those pesky servers to give me some work so I can try and beat Halz there. There is no chance of hanging on to get to the 4M mark before him though :(

:D Funny you should say that....no nope no way jose...cant do it....couldn't possibly do another month of egg n chips i need variety in my diet and shoes on my feet :D

Thanks picnic i was watching that one closely cheers for being a gent about it, i would keep your eyes peeled for Mr Halz though i sincerely don't think i can keep up with him much longer....he's a one man steamroller:D

Dont know about a month of egg n chips, more like bread and water at this rate :p , maybe the work rationing isnt so bad after all

Well, the transition wasn't required! I guess I was just destined to join this team, being an industrial consumer of the said biscuit.....:D

The idea behind the jobs per host limit (currently set at 20) is to allow
every host that tries to connect to get some amount of work. This is
at the cost of some of the hosts getting as much work as requested.
This limit is necessary only when we are pegged at our outbound network
limit (but if that limit were raised, we would surely hit some other in
due course).

This limit will be tuned. We've just started working with the three-day
outage protocol (in the interest of doing science, ie, looking for ET).
We're learning how to work with it.

Adding to the newness of this way of running the servers, the fact that this is
a holiday weekend, and a big chunk of our team (that being Matt and Eric)
are away at this time, we have a situation that's hard to get just right.

Please bear with us as we work through this. This plea goes out especially
to the power crunchers, who together form the bulk of this project's
computational backbone.

Assuming no crisis, I plan to remove the jobs limit on Monday (a holiday)
so that some (but not all, because we will be pegged), of the crunchers can fill
their queues. My request is that the crunchers reduce their queue sizes so that
more of you can at least partially fill your normal queues before the three-day
outage.

Thank you.

Yeah i dare say the message will ease a lot of peoples thoughts.
So lets all sit back relax enjoy the weekend and pretend like it makes no odds - and monday it'll be repetative strain injury time once more :D
