please recommend me an AGP gfx card for hd movie viewing?

hi there, as per title. Anyone can recommend me an agp gfx card for multimedia use? mainly for watching hd movie files in .mkv

Not really looking to spend more than a tenner if at all possible??

You will want to remove the competitor links before a mod sees them.

But, you are right - a HD 3850 AGP would do fine (even a cheap 3450 has enough power for 1080p blu ray video decoding), however (as far as I know) the nvidia FX series can't do hardware decoding of HD material.

Obviously, with a £10 budget you will be looking for a second hand card.

hmm.. my monitor only does 1440x900. Can i get a cheaper AGP gfx card then even though the mkv files may either be 720 or 1080p??

No, it will still have to fully decode the file and then resize it to fit your screen.

Had a passive Asus 3650 AGP last year and that hardly broke a sweat decoding HD. Was more than £10 though as I got it new.

Your CPU may be a problem with decoding HD material - as most systems using AGP won't have the CPU performance for it - possibly not even with the GPU doing most of the work depending on the CPU.

Bit of a thread resurrection, but did you get audio working over hdmi with the 3650 agp?

Basically want to know if the 3450/3650 agp versions will do audio over hdmi.
