For anyone thinking of using a Titan Fenrir v2 with this mobo, the supplied 1156 brackets cannot be fitted with the cooler running horizontally. The shiny blue heatsinks on the board sit too proud for the nobbly bits on the bracket.

I've fitted the fenrir with the fan blowing vertically to the ceiling fans of my CM690. For those of you without a case with top mounted exhaust fans, this could be a major issue.

:(

Isn't the mounting bracket symmetrical?

Yes. The braket runs with a cross bar that fits inside a cut groove on top of the Fenrir heatsink block. The trouble is, that the lovely blue coloured heatsinks on the mobo encroach a few mm too far in for a normal mounting.

I took a dremel to the bracket today and cut off the three protruding nobblies. All is now well and sitting horizontally. Shaved about 4 degrees off the temps at load too. :)

Just had a look at a picture of the mounting bracket and can now see what you mean, the brackets orientation is dictated by the position of the heatsink due to the notch.

Something to watch out for as I was thinking of going with this heatsink on a P7P55D-E Deluxe mobo but it looks like there's slightly more clearance on the Deluxe.

What are the clearances for RAM like with the heatsink mounted both ways?

Horizontally, clearance is a little tight with the fan mounted to the fenrir. Thankfully tho, the fan can be slid upwards on its mounts to give enough room. I'm running Corsair XMS3 strips without issue, but memory with big heat spreaders such as the Dominator series would be a no no.

Vertically mounted, theres no issues for the ram that I can see. However, the fan mounting sucks up the heat from your GFX card, so its not ideal for most cases. Especially without a roof mounted exhaust fan.
