David Cameron puts more money and resources into Pope’s visit

No idea what you mean.

They have never said "first visit to Britain when he comes to London".... The 4 day visit and the visit to Scotland are one and the same. He is visiting Scotland first then down to England the following day....

You have no idea what I mean?

Then go on to explain exactly how I apparently got it wrong?

I think you do know what I mean.

It is a British publication, and when it reffers to 'this country', it reffers to Britain. Not England.

Should it mean England, it should say so. Otherwise the whole statement is completely wrong.

" the first-ever papal state visit to this country "

Yes but it IS the first visit to this country that the pope is making....

He visits Scotland on the 16th Sept and then England from 17th Sept so all in all, the single 4 day visit IS the first visit to this country....

Now, if he visited Scotland, flew back and then 6 months later went to England and they said the same thing, THEN they would be wrong.

Unless, of course, you are referring to the previous Pope's visit almost 30 years ago ??

The first visit this pope is making. That is not what was said in " the first-ever papal state visit to this country "

It is not the first papal state visit this country has had.

I really don't get what your arguing at.

i hate catholics and i hate the 2012 olympics yet council tax still goes up after all the cuts

I hate idiots who hate. :p

And idiots who don't know that next years council tax will be set next year. ;)

By the way our council tax hasn't gone up for two years.

I wasn't arguing at all. I queried what you said, my query was answered so I am done....

Personally I found it strange that, out of the entire story, that this small part was deemed the most pertinent out of the whole story... Again, that's MY view but hey-ho....

Because a couple of sentences in and they can't even get the facts straight? Or want to obfuscate them.

I didn't bother reading the rest, why would I? If its ********.

I don't need the article to decide my opinions on the christian church.

Calm down?

Why not say this posts ago, why run back now, select this small comment - pull it out of proportion then say I have to calm down?

Because I wanted to make sure that I wasn't mis-reading it as can happen with posts. I read it a few times, looked at it in different ways and satisfied myself that I read it correctly.

Dave would rather pay to appear the international statesman (a la Blair) than pay for vital public services. Simple really, I don't know why we ever expect any different

The government can pretend they like catholics, and try to remove some of the racist stain that covers westminster and our royal family.

Making the catholics happy I suppose and there are a lot of those, but I agree its a complete waste of money.

Perhaps a more meaningful (and likely cheaper) gesture would be to amend the anti-Catholic provisions in the Act of Settlement?
