Has anyone ever dealt with BMW regarding their anti corrosion warranty?

My mother has a 54 reg E46 which is just starting to bubble on the rear arches ever so slightly, from what i've seen on the 'net it seems BMW offer a 6 year anti corrosion warranty. What are the chances they will try and avoid a claim against this? I seem to remember reading somewhere that manufacturers will not honour a claim unless you've specifically asked for a bodywork check to be carried out at each service.

Are BMW notoriously miserly with this sort of warranty work?

unless your dealer is good , you may have a chance of them doing the repair cheap...but honestly they will problably just say stonechips caused it. and therefore give you a quote to repair it. Ive only heard of a few people being successfull in getting repairs done for free due to the corrosion of the paint.

goodluck , its worth a try :)

I think the 12 year corrosion warranty kicks in from 04 onwards, prior to that only a 6 year warranty applies IIRC. Can't be 100% sure on dates though.

I have an 04 M3 and BMW have sorted out several bits of rust FOC in the past couple of months. HTH.

If they're like every other manufacturer, you'll need the relevant inspections stamped in the book
