Energy-saving light bulb

I can't justify using them, they're very expensive not very bright and the chemicals inside them are hazardous to health and the environment(isn't that what we are ment to be saving by buying these things?).

100's of Chinesse people are getting poisoned producing the bulbs and mining the mercury.

But I am hearing good thing about LED bulbs though; no chems, no UV or IR.

IIRC the amount of mercury in them is tiny, and less than is released into the atmosphere by the generation of electricity used by incandescent bulbs :) (you're at higher risk from eating fish, unless you're in the habit of breaking the bulbs and sitting in a closed room with them without cleaning them up - it's something like 2-5mg per bulb).

I found these are the best ones..

I'm not too keen on CFLs either, so I went with these (as quoted) for a while, but I find that they only last for about 6 weeks before they blow. I'm using ordinary tungsten bulbs again now, and I'm waiting for the LED market to mature.

the 18w phillips are much better and brighter. if its not enough, wilkos do a 23w GE, or homebase have a phillips 20w? coolwhite.

i use the 8-11w bulbs as i find anything above that too bright for me.
