As Android Froyo has hit some roadblocks, HTC Desire, HTC Legend and HTC Wildfire seem to be the first ones to get affected.

As per initial plans, the Froyo was to be launched on the Nexus One and then on the HTC Desire after a week. However, Froyo does not seem to hit the handsets anytime before September as Google and HTC continue to keep the issues under wraps.

It is not just the HTC handsets that will be affected by the delay because most other Android Smartphones are also awaiting the Froyo. The recently launched Samsung i900 Galaxy S and the Dell Mini 5 (Streak) are few such handsets which will have a significant impact.

HTC has been in the forefront of manufacturing stunning handsets on the Android platform and as we all know they made the Nexus One for Google too. HTC Desire is the basis for the Google Nexus One and hence the striking similarity between the two handsets is inevitable.

Google on the other hand will be under pressure to get the Android Froyo out thanks to the launch of the iPhone 4. Inspite of multiple issues in the iPhone 4, it is still a stiff competitor for the Android 2.1 Eclair.

Erm, that's worded as if it hasn't been released on any handset. Quite a few (but not all due to staggered release) Nexus Ones have received it OTA.

What a load of gash. I don't trust the source one bit and it's worded terribly.

Says on some other news sites that unbranded and unlocked Desires will get the update tomorrow, but that's highly doubtful I would think..

Will this Froyo release take advantage of >230MB of RAM?

Yeah it should do.

I also read an article on Engaget about how HTC were releasing all their China bound phones with 2.2, including a Chinese version of the Desire.

I reckon it could be arriving fairly soon..

they need to hurry up tbh, its shocking how long a simple update is taking to move to phones - i think google really need to address this issue in future.

its stupid to think that 2.2 has been out their for a while now but yet only 1 phone actually has it.

It is unfortunately not a simple update as Sense runs a custom launcher on top of a custom kernel.

Regardless of that my impression is that HTC either does not have the staff or the expertise to keep up with all the updates that they have to do.
