Bad company 2 - How do you play inn DX 9?

My mates comp doesn't run BC2 so well....So i am wondering, can he somehow run the game in Direct x 9? If so, any ideas how?

open the settings.ini in a texteditor. on win7 you can find it in c:\users\[username]\documents\BFBC2. change DxVersion=auto to DxVersion=9. run the game.

You can change it on the config or use a launcher, I'm sure someone will be able to remember the exact line to change but its 100% do able.

I had loads of problems trying to play it with XP. Ending up buying a whole new rig and Win7 64 just for the game.

how about XP on the new rig???

and download the PBupdater if that was the problem

Well it was an XP problem for sure as I originally installed Win7 on my old rig and the game ran ok afterwards.

If he has the HD space, why not?

When I ultimately goto Win 7 I'm pretty sure I'll still have XP on dual boot much the same as I had '98SE on dual for a few years after I got XP.
