Holy Advertising! Look what just flew over my house.

So that's what it was!

I was on the M25 earlier heading west towards the A1 junction and noticed something in the distance.

First few glances it looked decidedly triangular. Can't be a UFO, can it? :p.. wrong shape for a blimp.. same for a plane drawn banner.

Finally I realised it was one of those helicopter drawn banners but I couldn't make out what it was advertising.

I saw this on Friday, when on the M25. I could tell it was a helicopter with banner, but no idea what it said.

I’m surprised the helicopter could tow the banner along its quite big.

Wonder how many times they've had that weight falling off... Could make a mess of someones house! :p

Never seen one of the helicopter towed ones. Saw a plane at the big Snow Patrol homecoming gig a month ago advertising cheap mobile bills and a phone number, but no company names... looked pretty dodgey.

I'm currently on Long Island and see about 20 a day of these advertising all types of shows and crap.

Banners attached to planes are pretty common in the states. I also saw this sky writing:

which said 'U + GOD = :)'. I dunno though, God could probably have written this himself easier...

I saw a plane writing God Loves You when I was in Disney in May, was not what I expected to see on expedition everest!

There was a similar one advertising Quantas over Manchester a year or so ago.

It's a rather effective way of advertising IMO.

EDIT: I know I'd taken a shot of it on 11/09/2008, poor quality but was taken in a rush :)

I beg your pardon? :p That can't be true!

London has at least 5 airports in every corner. The area which the helicopter Asim had taken pictures of is close to the flight path of Heathrow, Stanstead and London City Airports! :p

The difference being that Heathrow has a Class A CTR where as most other UK airports are Class D.

Are you sure?

I thought most regional airports in the UK were a Class A CTZ although you can fly to them using SVFR. At least that was the case when I got my PPL about 5 years ago. I must dig out my old charts and have another look.

Very sure. Heathrow is the only Class A CTR in the UK. The rest are all class D.

And no need to dig out your charts.... Clicky Here
