Ok so my sister managed to let go of the door today whilst the wind was blowing and it went stright into the guys saxo next to us he was after my number so he could ring later to sort the insurance out. Only been driving maybe a month max and aint got a clue what kinda details he will be after later on

Yea pay his bill, you dont want a claim if you can help it.

Tell him to do one, its a saxo ffs, i'd give someone a funny look maybe voice some concern but would not kick up a major fuss and expect insurance details for something of little value.

lol fire i almost did his car was in a mess tbh the bumper needs a respray where paint has come off also there was lots of dints in the side of car but he was bigger than me and with his mates so couldnt really tell him where to get off , if he does ring will suggest ill pay for it and not bother with the insurance but for future reference what would i need to do?

Wow.

OP :
He'll be wanting your insurance details to have the damage repaired. It might be worth asking him if he'd be willing to have a smart repair/chipsaway fix done assuming you haven't actually dented it, and paying cash - as this will be much cheaper for you in the long term given the effect a claim will have on your no claims if you've only just started driving.

Run some quotes to see if it will actually make a difference. A fault accident makes £4 worth of difference after 1 year driving for me. I am aware how little sense that makes.

But yeah, he'll be wanting your policy number, company, etc etc.

hmmm do what i did about 15 years ago, some old women complained i was leaning on her gate and bent it so my mate gave her my home number (jokingly) as he lived next door, so i answered it and pretended to be my dad and began pretending to shout at myself so she hung up lol.

If hes like your average "lad"* and not trying it on he'll just want it fixed as quickly/simply as possible and reimbursed for costs.

* I'm assuming the type of driver from the car lol

disagree completely, in the absence of any real eveidence he's caused significant damage i.e a panel has been clearly pressed inwards this just seems like a standard door bounce, happens everyday in part due to small uk parking space sizes, saxo minimum age around 10 years value a grand absolute max and this guy reckons a minor mark is gonna effect the value, give me a break, its like in france cars colliding on roundabouts etc and when parrell parking is expected nobody kicks off and demands insurance details.

I hope some one dents and scratches your car :D

So in future if my car with a large front bumper rubs against the corner of another persons and removes a bit of paint i'm now expected to give over my insurance details, or if it happens to my car i should demand them from the other person, lol, no wonder i pay more than the car is worth to insure it.

No dont be a d1ck and leave it and just offer to pay for the damage you have done.

No need for insurance. you have damaged something that does not belong to you its that simple. You are an absolute pleb

Wow you're a right model citizen aren't you!

Reminds me of the reaction of somebody who hit an old trailer I was pulling a while back, his attitude was because it was old & rusty why bother making a claim ?

The fact he'd damaged it and it was his fault / duty to get it put right seemed beyond him.

Yes, its a Saxo FFS but its his Saxo and he has the right to expect it not to be damaged and him be out of pocket.

Don't you think~?

lol, i allways take care when opening doors when in busy car parks but i can understand why some dont and that others make mistakes, especially if they have kids or whatever, yeah if the panel was clearly bent on an expensive motor the logical conclusion would be that this would adversly affect the value and a claim from the other party should be made but a tiny ding on an inexpensive car is just a waste of everyones time even moaning about, cant beleive you guys are encouragin gthis guy to part with money to chipsaway etc.
