Dont Forget VXR Track Day Tickets on Sale Tomorrow

Looking forward to Croft PM on the 28th July

What sort of format did the event take and how long did you manage to get in each car?

Still a bit unsure whether we need our own track day insurance or whether it is included as part of the price?

We were told in the briefing you get 3 laps in each car before pitting again however our session was fairly quiet and you were getting 4 or 5 laps before going back in and then give or take straight back out in another car. The afternoon session was busier and the queue for each car had about 5 people waiting.

I went out around 15 times plus a few hot laps with the touring car driver which I found great fun.

You don't need track insurance they pick up the bill for any damage.

Im sure I read in the T&C's there was a big excess if you crash?

I may have missed it but no excess was mentioned on the T&Cs that were listed for the event or on the email sent confirming the details. You sign a disclaimer and I will be honest and say I never read the whole document but did skim it for excess figures but didn't see any.

You must really have been jumping straight back into a car as I only got out 8 times. Although I did waste a fair bit of time waiting for a second telemetry lap that didn't happen.

Awesome morning, aside from my telemetry run being stopped by the chequered flag. My first trackday and visit to Knockhill so I was a bit tentative to start but was getting better (mostly smoother) all the time :).

13 runs I think, 4 Corsa (fun, nice and nimble), 3 Astra (bit too much power for FWD but otherwise good) and 6 Insignia. The Insignia wasn't as popular but it was composed and easy to drive plus deceptively fast, even had a go in an estate but I couldn't really tell the difference :o. The cars were an annoying mix of keyless/traditional start, electric/manual seats and handbrakes.

I didn't see anything about insurance liabilities in the disclaimer for the vehicles/track, was just personal injury stuff etc.

Has anyone got anything through the post or anything confirming things? I booked 3 places and only got the initial emails, nothing since. Going to Croft.

Me, I'm looking forward to grabbing something FWD by the neck and re-enacting the photos above :D

Doh :( Was the best car for me by far last year. Suited my driving style as you could be really smooth with it and with that V8 power on tap it was great, pulled very nicely regardless of what speed we were doing. Not quite as disappointed about missing it this year now.

The other cars just felt a bit 'meh' after a drive in the VXR8.

its been discontinued now but the new one (see at goodwood Here) should be imported and ready for sale some time next year.

The Corsa is really fun, especially on the slalom! Surprisingly nimble.

Dear Bryan,

With your VXR Track Day approaching faster than the chequered flag, you’ll soon find yourself most definitely in the driving seat. But first, here’s a quick run down of what to expect (aside from an immense rush of adrenaline).

Essential info

• Date: Wednesday 14th July
• Location: Thruxton Circuit (click here for directions)
• Agenda:
08:00 Registration, breakfast
08:40 Track briefing
09:00 Track live - open pit lane
10:30 Track closes - classroom sessions (optional)
11:00 Track reopens - open pit lane
12:30 Session close, lunch

What’s included?
Your VXR Track Day will include a full safety briefing before you take to the track for some familiarisation laps. Cars available to drive will include the Corsa VXR, Astra VXR and Insignia VXR. You will get 3 hours track time with one of our many qualified instructors, who include: Paul O’Neill, Tom Onslow-Cole, James Pickford, Tom Ferrier, Danny Buxton, and Gavin Pyper*. Your instructor will offer one-to-one training to help hone your skills. There will also be the opportunity for a fast lap with one of our performance drivers.

Who is the event open to?
Anyone who holds a full valid UK / EU driving licence (must have held licence for at least 1 year prior to event date), is over the age of 21 and appreciates power.

Event format
When you arrive you will receive a full briefing from our Chief Instructor, including tips on effective circuit driving technique (listen up if you want to take pole position). The session runs as a 3 hour open pit lane, with VXR’s available for use via a bus stop system – each vehicle type has a marker at which to wait for a vehicle to become free.

Instructors
Each vehicle has an instructor in the passenger seat next to you.
No participants are allowed to drive on their own, but don’t be shy – they live for speed.

Numbers on the day
Your briefing will be as a group. All in-car tuition is on a one-to-one basis except for the demo laps.

Spectators
Spectators are welcome to cheer you on. Just a couple of points to bring to your attention; for safety reasons, children under the age of 16 will not be allowed into the pit lane and pets will not be allowed on the circuit at all.

Dress code
Wear thin, flat-soled shoes and natural fibres such as cotton, rather than synthetics such as nylon. It is also advisable to bring a jacket in case of wet weather although there is some cover provided at the activity areas.

Helmets
Helmets and liners are provided. You may bring your own helmet but it will undergo an inspection by the event team to ensure suitability.

Refreshments
Food and refreshments are provided on arrival to fuel your passion (breakfast and lunch for AM session and lunch for PM session). Hot and cold drinks are also provided at the activity area and spectators are welcome to purchase vouchers for food at £5 per head, payable on the day.

If you have any queries, please contact the VXR Power Events hotline on 01603 785825 or email [email protected]

Kind regards

The VXR team
