AMD Phenom II X6 V's Intel I7 - What to go for.

Hardly

I'm sick of reading reviews where they show encoding not full on all cores.

Its simple enough.

I managed it in all of 30 seconds to max out my cores.....they couldn't?

Those benchies show the mediocre platform of the old amd architechture

6 cores 400mhz more speed and hardly a boost in encoding.

They must have the wrong settings / setup if all cores are not getting used in handbrake.

BTW Its not trolling it cutting to the facts for people making judgements on buying new hardware.

Fact is and the bottom line is. I encode and video edit I get more raw cpu power from i7

If I didn't I would be running an AMD rig.

how is it 400mhz faster? 1090t is 200mhz slower on each core than a 965.

still beats it by 18% with all cores beeing used but not fully 90% cpu utilisation....

cutting to the facts? you mean cutting out the facts wheres this 6fps encoding from lol

mediocre archietecture and platform that beats i7 in 2 benchmarks..... at encoding....

The test is flawed

Due to the fact the numpties can't get all cores maxed out

Capiche? :D

some programs wont max out 6 cores...

ive tried multiple versions of ffmpeg and not found any that would use more than 40% cpu usage, its bad coding nothing amd can do windows will manage the cores as best it can by splitting load between multiple ones if a program cant fully utilise each core

Well at least pick a benchie where the reviewers know what they are doing.:)

Vegas 9 rendering= all cores
Adobe re-encode=all cores
Handbrake= all cores

they picked some of the popular encoders what more could you want? still beats intel equiv 2/3......

not going to argue with you anyways as when big wayne tried to impart reasoning and knowledge onto you if errupted into a 20 million page thread of you arguing i3 was the best cpu since sliced atoms

because windows is splitting the load across the cores and that load isnt enough for 100% usage on each core its still faster than a 930 anyway (930 probably was at 100% usage 1090t was not.)

BS

You now have shown you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

What complete made up nonsense. :p

youve shown you have no idea.... read up on windows 7 i dont know why they even let you post in the hardware sections anymore all you do is troll

eh?

I can max handbrake out using my i7 920 @ 4ghz

Whats your problem?

A hex core wouldn't?

I post when I see nonsense posts by AMD fanatics who clearly cannot admit that the HEX core AMD cpu's are old hat with a 2 extra cores.

Doesn't make them faster than a i7 quad core with HT at the same clock speeds.

I read enough guff in this forum especially cpu's by people who clearly have no clue.

Prove me worng and I will admit it.

If you can't then stop with the trolling card to defend your no claims

more troll baiting i refuse to be brought down to this persons level.

I have destroyed your arguement.

I have made a mockery of that handbrake bench due to the noobs not be able to max out the cores.

I challange anyone on these forums with a Hex core AMD at the same clock speed in a media encoding test in handbrake just to shut you up. :p

I'm waiting.....

to prove what? a reviewer didnt overclock.... all i said was the program didnt hit 100% cpu usage and it didnt neither did the other 2 encoding products on it either

+ op never said he was overclocking so @ 4ghz doesnt mean anything

btw http://www.anandtech.com/show/3674/amds-sixcore-phenom-ii-x6-1090t-1055t-reviewed/6

anandtech use wrong benchmarks and wrong settings for encoding.

my whole point when i first posted was amd's reputation for beeing worse at encoding is BS fueled by people like you

@2.8ghz v hex core the i7 would still win.

so now you want amd to downlock? who cares about clock per clock if hes running stock which he hasnt indicated other then amd is as good a choice as intel stop ignoring the fact amd isnt slower at encoding.

The OP states

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1055T 2.80GHz (Socket AM3) Retail

i7 at this clock speed will be quicker
