In the summer of 1984 some of the biggest rockbands in the world toured Japan. All of these bands went on to sell millions of albums..........except one

superb real life documentary 1hour 20 minutes available to 22/7 on iplayer

many spinal tap references (including stone henge!) but heart warming and inspirational that the band continues to believe in themselves despite limited success which was mainly due to poor management.

It's a great little film, I still struggle to believe that it's real when watching it as the members of the band are so over the top but it's very much worth watching.

I'd been wanting to see this for ages, as I think Kermode recommended it in a feature of band documentary films.

And yeah: it's a fascinating film that's heartwarming, heartbreaking and hilarious. Even if you're not into Metal, it's definitely worth your time if you haven't seen it yet.

The part that documents their European Tour - culminating with them topping the bill at a Transylvanian festival - is a wonderful piece of life/tragedy/comedy.

And they're playing in Sheffield on Wednesday - seriously tempted to go along and support them; not for the music [which isn't bad], but to support a bunch of likeable guys that have stuck to their dream.

Better even than Metallica's Some Kind Of Monster, as it involves real people, and not the cosseted, over-self-rated prima donnas like the eminently punchable Lars Ulrich.

awesome docu

glad they finally 'made it' after that docu because they deserved it if not just for the effort they put in

Great documentory and a great live band!

I saw them in Bristol a few months back with some fellow OcUKers... the whole band came out afterwards, shook hands and had a chat with everyone who stayed behind :)
