Mortal Online has been released?

Well you lose all the stuff you have looted

Plus if you keep stealing in the cities and such you will get flagged and guards will come down on you.

Also your not always going to loot from them, you might "mess up" and they will get a message saying you are pick pocketing them and then they can smash you in the face with an axe ! :D

Regarding the thieving, how do they balance that? Aren't you being endlessly pick-pocketed?

Bear in mind there are no real "penalties" in terms of the law, and death is merely a irritant, I don't understand how they'd balance the risk/reward system. As the gains, or "rewards" are potentially very high and have a big impact on someone, wheres the big "risk"? So you get caught, guy kills you - so what? Come back after resurrection and try again?

Probably in a similar way to UO, getting caught repeatedly ends up removing your blue status and you end up with similar penalties to a murderer.

I expect that the stealing will work in much the same way as UOs too, so you can most likely use the same methods of protection as in UO to stop yourself from getting important items stolen from your pack.

Tbh thats proberbly why they disabled it for now, from the videos I saw you could just loot anything in someones bag. Maybe they wanted to refine it more to make it a touch more balanced.

Well I am going to wait for now I think until they put thieving into the game :) Plus hopefully they will iron out some of the lag and other bugs.

I just hope it keeps a decent playerbase. Thats the prob with games like these, cuz its a "indie" company not a lot of people are going to pay that much attention to it. Plus if it is still quite buggy at the moment people are just going to be put off

I only ever got stuff nicked from me successfully once in UO, and even at that I nearly managed to kill the guy afterwards. God bless multiple layers of hides :)

Not standing around the bank looking rich helped a lot too :p

Well I mean player methods of protecting your items, in UO you could loot anything from someones bags, but the players came up with their own methods for making it tough to get good items looted, like the multibag trick for example.

I took the plunge and bought the game.
Currently I'm trying to figure out why when I press 'L' and go to Technique I don't have Gathering listed in there.
Anyone any ideas?

Has this improved at all since the open beta thing?

I tried it around February this year as the concept sounded interesting but when I got in-game it was a joke, it was absurd that they were even calling it a game at that point as it was horrible and totally unplayable due to lag and just a whole host of other bugs and problems.

I'm still interested, but has anything actually been sorted out? Is it playable at this point?

Edit: Ok, ignore that, theres no way I'm paying 50 euros for a game, especially when A.) I have no idea if I will like it and B.) It could be as awful as it was during the beta.

Ah, that makes sense I guess.

So far, I'm having difficulty getting a feel for the game.
Everything you do in it just feels really sluggish, especially when attacking something, though I'm guessing lag probably has something to do with it too. And then there's magic use which just feels like its lagging all the time, however it has been said in many places that magic is quite broken so I'm keeping my hopes up.

Other than that though, the game really does just drop you in and let you get on with it, in what seems to be quite a large game area and the layout, rivers, mountains and buildings all look fantastic, and the bartering trading system is pretty cool too.

Oh, and it would be nice if it would give you more information/tool tips for your HUD.

So to sum up, yes it feels unfinished and hasn't completely sucked me in from the get go like when I first played Neocron but I am still here and finding it an interesting and enjoyable experience.
If your sitting on the fence about this game, then personnally you should stay there for a bit longer keeping an eye on the game as it matures, as it's certainly got potential.

Has the reported server fix been implemented yet?

The one which was meant increase packets sent between client and server?
Nothings changed for me, still unplayable. Contacted customer support and got a bog standard reinstall the game/check your drivers, nothing that's going to fix server side lag!

i have found it to be quite a bit smoother these last couple of days

it really is heading in the right direction just trying to find the best build for my second character atm

Its weird, ive been playing all weekend with zero lag, only problems ive had are my options menu seems to have vanished  and obviously the odd server crash.

Apart from that, loving it, got a good few gold in the bank, 5 or so 2h weapons, some nice Keel scale plate armour etc

Are any of you guys guilded yet ?

I`m thinking safety in numbers and all that. Seems a lot of the bigger guilds are US based and not around till very very late.

I noticed the options menu had gone a couple of days ago too. Wonder what that`s about ?

I feel that the game although showing potential, is NOT out of Beta as it stands.

The server side lag is unforgiveable.

If it was a free MMO, sure, but as it stands, it is high priced with higher than normal subs to boot.

The game feels very "fragile" at times with bugs which just make you think you are a guinea pig.

Currently I'd have to agree with all of the above. I has potential but is still far to laggy and buggy to be taken seriously by most potential players.
Definitely one to keep an eye on though.

No not guilded at present would quite like to get one tho

Im currently trying a number of builds for my second character

trying to get a decent mounted archer

Gimpmoo is spot on.

I've played quite a lot over a couple weeks and I've stopped playing now. Fundamentally it's a good game but unpredictable bugs start to make it a real grind to play. For instance I logged in yesterday to find myself dead. Yes someone had killed me whilst the world was loading. It's lots of little things like that that just make you think **** it, it's really not worth investing time in something like this right now. Quite frankly it seems the developers don't really know what they're doing. Once I learnt they purchased the MMO plugin to the Epic engine it became somewhat clear where this is going; nowhere very slowly.

Check it out in about a year, if it's still alive then.
