Dorset - Where to go?

The nearest garage to fix you suspension, they don't seem to have learned that gigantic open pot holes in every road, every 20 metres need filling. Seriously the roads down there make a farmers track look like a newly rolled race track.

Other that that cheddar gorge is ok, wokkie hole for a laugh, Jurassic coast should be good but isn't. Tbh we weren't that impressed overall and spent most days in Bath or Bristol.

Durdle Door and Lulworth cove are worth a visit if your interested in that sort of stuff. I was just at Portland Bill doing some cliff jumping (tombstoning as the locals call it), great fun, but not recommended without someone who knows the area.

If your interested in Military History there is the Northe Fort in Weymouth and the Bovington tank museum.

Were actually staying in Weymouth.

Is it any good around there?

Too late if not, lol.

The beach is good for building sandcastles. Naff for swimming though as it's too shallow, you have to go further down to Greenhills to swim on that beach. Chesil beach is good, although it can be a bit daunting if your not a strong swimmer (if it's a bit rough).

Bournemouth Artificial Surf Reef

Recently I've just heard of how it has been a failure. They spent millions on it and they still couldn't get it right! The beach is awesome though, very busy during school holidays.

None of those things are in Dorset apart from the Jurassic Coast.

If you're in Weymouth don't forget Brewers Quay which is the old Devonish Ale brewery. It's part shopping centre and part museum, the Timewalk is the main exhibit which is quite interesting.

Also further up harbour in the entrance is Noathe fort which is also a museum. As all ready stated you can take day trips to the channels islands, or go on boat tours or fishing etc

Hive beach cafe in Bridport is lovely little stop if you've got time. Nice food, good views and stunning young female students floating around! What more could you want (if you're a bloke I assume!)

I spend a big part of my life growing up in Dorset and I regret being back in London all the time!!

Just been to monkeyworld today, great place to support as the vast majority of the monkeys are rescued from labs, the pet trade or general abuse, but it was very busy even out of school holidays. The place is more set up for the monkeys than it is for the visitors which is a good thing as a lot of them have psycological problems due to their backgrounds, but it means you get to see them at a distance behind bars. There's a couple of places where you can observe and photograph chimps and lemurs without bars in the way but from a personal level I would have preferred a couple more.

Chesil beach is also good for beach casting..

Corfe and the castle are great. Looks like it hasn't changed in 400 years, bar the odd lamppost of course. Most of the house are from the 1600s and the castle, while in ruins is still very impressive.

Very nice steam train service from corfe to swanage that my parents, myself and the gf were on in may.
