MSI has reportedly been working on the so-called X58A-GD65, whoch would be a more affordable X58 moptherboard, yet with USB 3.0 and SATA 6G.

The board comes with 'just' three PCI Express slots, has support 3-way SLI and CrossFire X setups. Budghet or noy , it didn't shy away from including six DDR3-2133 memory slots, six SATA 3.0 Gbps connectors, two USB 3.0 ports and two SATA 6.0 Gbps connectors.

Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, 7.1 channel audio, coaxial SPDIF connectors and dual eSATA.

As for the chipset, it is the Intel X58 and, thus, will support socket LGA 1366 central processing units, not just the quad-core but also the hexa-core models. The motherboard also boasts an 8-phase VRM and 4+6 USB 2.0 ports.

It will supposedly become available for pre-order shortly priced at 210 EURO.

I imagine it will compete with the ASUS P6X58D-E and Gigabyte X58A-UD3R.

I'm glad there's more coming, I was actually so stupid I was going to incorporate the UD9 mobo to my build, but what the hell for? I will never run 4 x 5870/gtx 480, max I'd ever do is 2 x 5970 or 2 x 5870. It would be such a waste of monies.

Agree. Those "budget" boards do a stellar job and only have a few features missing compared to the more expensive options. And most of the time, those features aren't needed in the first place.

Looks like awkward CMOS battery positioning... could end up behind a graphics card. Hope it doesn't need the batt removing to clear the CMOS or that could become a pain for OCing.

Looks like another awesome design from msi, same rubbish ioh heatsink thats on my x58m and still no heatsink on the mosfets typical msi sloppyness.
