Should have know this would come and bite me in the rear, I would like to know if anyone else has had bad expirence with this company, here is what happened.

Last month, I took in my car to have the cam belt changed, there was also a second fault I reported to them at the time and asked them to check, coming from the AUX belt. They insisted it was my power steering pump (£110), after paying it sounded the same, the guy who showed me back to my car said 'Its your turbo kicking in mate'!

Three weeks later I took it into another branch said the noise was still there, I insisted they diagnosed it properly, this was free of charge, after 15 minutes on the ramp it was clear it was an Idle pully (£20), part changed noise gone, I just paid for the part they did the labour free becuase of there screw ups.

To add salt to the wounds they changed the oil for me while I was waiting, then overfilled it  I was around 1 CM above the last line on the MAX, Ive had another garage remove the excess, must have removed almost a pint glass worth. I dont know if this will have damaged anything.

Ive phoned there head office today as I ve totally lost any trust in them. waiting for a callback from there head office in the next 40 minutes. Not sure what they can offer me?

I wouldnt normally goto a one of these main garages, my local was fully booked at the time. Let this be a lesson learned.

Hmm, my clutch is very thin and I was thinking about going to Mr Clutch to get it changed, don't think I will now :p

I wouldnt call Mr Clutch a 'Main Garage'. Id call it a chain where they try to get the most money out of you for doing the least amount of work. Sorry.

Fight it as best you can but I wouldnt hope for the outcome your expecting.

I've read plenty of stories online about them and I think anyone on here would say avoid like the plague, as well regular garages.

People have left with more problems than they went in with, replacement clutches which are actually usually just reconditioned failing after days or weeks, the warranty on said clutches only valid if you return for 4 'inspections' every 200 miles or so. How they intend to 'inspect' it without removing gearbox etc, but dont charge you for it, I dont understand.

Perhaps inquire to trading standards?

I wont be going there for a clutch, My independent garage also said that they use recon clutches, Mine may be due in the next 6 months.

I didnt mind so much about the steering pump and I accept people can make mistakes, however overfillling the oil could have blown seels.

Touch wood, i dont think its done any damage however I am going to get it inspected to make sure, if anything has been damaged I will be contacting trading standards.

Oh I know they use reconditioned clutches, but that doesn't bother me because I probably will only cover 20,000miles on it before I change car.

In that case hide the Mr Clutch invoice when you sell the car - if I found this in the service history I'd walk away very quickly. They are amongst the worst of the generic fitters in terms of quality of work and quality of parts.
