JSA bonus when you find a job?

When i found my job in April i got a Job Grant of £100 when i signed off. If youre eligible you get it automatically. ( Its £250 if you have a partner and children )

Also, if you have a family you get £40 a week In Work Credit for up to a year.

And they also gave me money to buy work clothes and clothes for my interview.

And you also get 4 weeks council tax and housing benefit run on as well.

If any of you have worked at the Job Center, you'll understand just how abused the JSA is. It's a shame, but I blame the system more than the people. It's easy free (tax payer) money.

Gives me that lovely euphoric intrinsic feeling thinking about it. AFK Raging.

Hi,
I could be totally wrong here but i'm sure i've heard you get some kind of bonus from jobseekers when you find a job, if you've been signed on a certain lengh of time.
i've been signed on for three years since i left college and got absolutly no where with a job, but i've finally got a job i start next week.

Anybody recently signed off to start a new job? is there any kind of bonus?

Congratulations on the job mate. Ignore all the other 'up them sefles' arsefaces in this thread.

I think you're entitled to a clothing allowance, which is around the £100 mark.

What job have you got?

3 years on benefits and asking if you get a bonus for finally getting a job takes the **** a bit...

Three years of unemployment? Thats not a bit of a bonus, it's ****ing christmas!

So enjoy it and stop trying to rape the system for every last penny.

If you're entitled to it, then I see no reason for "raping the system".

3 years on benefits, what's that about.. £6,864?

When I was unemployed I was tempted to apply for JSA, but I didn't need to because I had saved money from previous jobs. I chose not to exploit the system. I'm not saying you or anyone has, just saying I wouldn't be 'on the streets with no food' without it. Even though I was entitled.

Surely it'd come in handy, I don't see why people sniff at it even if they have savings. If you're entitled to it and you're actively seeking work then it's a no brainer really.

Entitled to me means necessary. They say if you can't beat them, join them. But honestly, if everyone who thought about getting, or is on JSA treated it like I did. Imagine how much more money we could invest into the economy. That JSA money comes from working tax payers, and I am not entitled to their money (in my opinion), and I am only willing to have it if I truly needed it. 1 less JSA person is £45 per week saved.

Being on JSA for 3 years = taking the urine.

Depends, if he has been actively looking for work, he's entitled to it and is taking steps to finding work then it's fine. taking it and not looking for work does take the urine.

congrats on the job

you will get something extra in your last jsa payment. it is usually to cover travelling to work or to buy work clothes/equipment

the amount varies. ask your advisor when you sign off. dont just say '' i wants bonus , my mate got bonus'' just ask what help is available . if you actually need any help that is

nice one , you now have a gap in your NI payments and a gap on your cv where it looks like you just took a holiday and wherent actively looking for work. you also spent savings that you could have kept and helped make the governments truly shocking unemployment figures look better. its not exploiting

....... how is that exploiting the system? So if you're out of work, you're looking for work, you shouldn't claim because it's exploiting the system? You mean how you paid in cash in to the system, and then you aren't entitled to it because you were out of work?:confused:

If you're out of work and need to claim do it, there's nothing shameful about losing your job and needing help. It will help with NI and actually make it look like you weren't just twiddling thumbs...
