Hey,

I've been looking at getting my first mac for sometime, I decided on the 13"MBP base spec. I use it for web browsing/itunes/pr0n/the odd film etc

I had played around with them in the shops but have always been put off and though 'I could buy a £350 laptop that could do the same job...'

...but today I was a little bored in work and just though SOD IT and whipped out the credit card and got one from the rainforest shop for £888 :D (I couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else?) I hope I haven't made a mistake.

So...when it arrives in a few days what are the first things I should do? As I said above i've never owned a mac before (apart from the 3gs but thats not a mac) do I have to somehow config the battery? Do you have any handy hints and tips for me?

 Wish I could "SOD" away £888 like that :p

I recommend checking out Switch 101, which will give you a basic break-down of the differences between the Windows OS and the Mac OS :)

New credit card - 0% on purchases for 12months, I will hopefully pay it off after 3 :D

I'll check the website :)

I'm excited, if it's **** I will hunt all you mac lovers down and burn you :p

Haha nice! :)
Oh and have mercy - I'm still a Windows user... I haven't converted...

Yet... :p

Funny you should post this today. Because I was speaking to the IT guy who comes to my work office sometimes and he said his mate just brought an iMac for £1300 just on an impulse. Yes! You are one of us now! :D

What next? 27 inches worth of a computer made from aluminium. ;)

welcome to the 'club'

i had a sod it 2 years ago with a 24' imac. never looked back tbh.

enjoy and don't give up on the os after 5 minutes, give it time and you'll grow to love it

I have had a play around with the OS so I 'sort of' know how to use it! I'm hoping after a few days I will have got to grips with it :)

I'm still annoyed about the delivery estimate, I paid for first class 1-2days, which would be tuesday/wednesday. Instead the estimate says 9th July which is friday - I got away for 5 days on friday morning :(

Haha nice! :)

Don't be sad about that, I have a very nice W7 Desktop and a pretty new iMac. Both very nice bits of kit but to be honest the wife hogs the iMac and I always gravitate to W7. Not much to choose between them anymore as far as I'm concerned.

Ouch! My daughter bought ours, well she actually bought two from an IT bankrupt stock sale - £500 for the two, 21.5" models and they were virtually new, latest spec just a couple of months old. That's the way to buy these things, don't pay list price for goodness sake, that's a mugs game.

Yep, because situation like that pop up all the time don't they?

I treated myself to a 13" MBP too, MUCH better than any windows laptop equivalent I have to say.
A friend has owned macs for years before I got mine and he was always banging on about how everything "just works."
It really got on my ****, but, eventually I caved and got my own. :)

OSX is really nice to use, everything "just works" :p

You won't be disappointed.

If i ever explain to somebody what a mac is by saying 'it just works' feel free to punch me :p

Still no change on my delivery date of 9th july which is VERY annoying. I paid for it to come today or tomorrow
