Mk3 Mondeo Auto Boxes

Hi All,

Could you tell me about the pro's and cons of the auto boxes for the Mk3 Mondeo please? Am I right in thinking that the post-2003(?) auto is also a semi auto and is a decent box? How is it likely to impact fuel consumption on the 2.0 130bhp TDCI?

I believe the 5 speed auto (with manual shifting, aka Durashift) was only brought in from 2005 onwards. Not heard much about the 5 speed autos, but I know the conventional autos are only 4 speed and not held in much regard at all (for the most part people recommend avoiding them).

Yup, the other box is basically a large handle.

Thats the one, looks like it may have been post-2003 then (my bad!).

As a side note, I hate adverts with the mileage like that, really grinds my gears!
