How long untill SkyHD is subscription free?

Freesat HD isn't as high quality in terms of bit rate as sky which is slightly disappointing.

I totally agree with you all the price of sky tv is too high.

sports channels alone cost around £18 a month. I had broadband with them plus sports and I recently took this off along with espn and reduced my bill from £55 to £20.

I just don't know how I am going to cope with the new footballing season

£89 a month here, but its for two boxes with HD and so on :p (all channels and ESPN)

At least both the boxes were free... :D

It is a ripoff though, but it gets used all the time so its no problem really.

Freeview HD should become more common soon enough, just need set top box prices to drop - it's available throughout most of south London I think (and maybe more? I'm not sure if the Crystal Palace transmitter is for the entire city?)

Go to the pub and watch it there?

My V+ sub is £45 a month and I rarely watch anything of any worth. All I am interested in now 24 has finished is Top Gear. There is nothing else that I want to watch on TV anymore.

The most watched channels in my house are the kids channels, and sadly these are only available on the top TV package.

Well I have it mainly for the football, which I cannot stream live in HD via my computer.

Even if I found a way to do it, my connection isn't good enough :p

I've never had a problem with Sky and I don't understand people who complain about them.

Anyway I have:
Sports
Unlimited Phone
Max Broadband
HD
pay £46 per month

It will be nice when the HD is free though

don't know but I do know that I've now cancelled all my Sky + and Sky HD subscriptions and will look forward to saving the £57 a month I was giving them...

Its an obscene amount of money for TV, and a lot of what they broadcast is old, repeated weekly and its really hard to find anything fresh to watch.

I've had Sky in the past, thought we'd give it another go seeing as it was now in HD but sadly the content provided by Sky TV is total rubbish and glad my 12 month contract is now finally up, and its adios Sky TV... Thanks for ripping me off again, more fool me for thinking I'd get value for money. Least the Sky HD boxes were free.. I can still use them for freeview – for now.. They’ll find someway to cut them off so as I can’t watch free to view channels. Oh well.

The kicker is they don't allow recording on the boxes, if you aren't paying the Sky+ £10 fee.

Where in the country is Freeview HD actually available? I checked my post code area and it states 2012!!! I'll be happy to buy a new HD Freeview Box instead of the one on my TV but just annoyed its going to take so long!

Never knew Sky was so expensive. We have pretty much most channels here, including all the film channels, as well as sports (including the extras like Chelsea TV), plus HD and multiroom. Sounds like a bit of a rip off tbh.

Yep... Oh well BBC iPlayer will do for most of what I need to catch up on, such as top gear and formula one.

Not paying for a Sky+ Fee - £10 is a ripoff to allow recording. Missus still got sky in her house, until we move in together I'll just not bother with my house. Sure if I ask her she'll record something for me.. ;)

Sky is a rip off really unless you must have sports, sure you can stream it but it is crap mostly, Cable is cool because you get the fast internet.

I am currently surviving with no TV reception. So £0 a month, don't even need a TV license, Internet is free from work, just got ripped off by the "installation" fee from BT.

Gonna get Freeview HD when I move hopefully.

I got SkyHD the other day... put on Sky1 HD.... oh look it's Stargate but it's not actually HD, just has great big black borders on the sites. Same with a lot of other programs on Sky channels. What a joke

I'm cancelling my Sky account, there's naff all on I want to watch and the stuff I do want to watch is on freeview anyways, i'll save £57 a month so I'll buy a FreesatHD recorder for £200
