Currently playing through this, and its actually a half decent game. Single player mode seems to have a decent story but its no tactical shooter thats for sure.

The movement of the player is slower but it has some rather addictive must keep going to see where this leads me next type of gameplay.

graphics for the PC are ok, nothing amazing. Seems to be more of a console game if you ask me. Don't get me wrong it does look nice, water affects are wonderful, fire looks great, locations are great etc, but you can see it was made for console as well as PC, its not as detailed as Batman etc.. Which, makes me wonder why gamepad support was removed for PC. Easy to fix, a few user.ini tweaks and pinnacle game profiler and I'm now playing along with a 360 gamepad on a plasma screen at 1600 x 900 full detail on my laptop and enjoying it.. the gamepad works just fine, as its not really all that tactical, you don't need super quick movement for this one. Guess online multiplayer you'd be better off with keyboard and mouse..

Anyone else enjoying Bio shock 2, many must have got this in the steam sales recently?

Got it over the Christmas period when it was on sale, not as good as the first, but still a nice addition to the Bioshock storyline.

No its not as good as the first, but it continues the story nicely. I would recommend you play the first one before playing the second though, second one follows on from the first one.

Which brings up an important tip regarding the first one... If you intend to play the first one, its quite cheap now. If you've installed Dirt 2, this will install rapture 3D sound, and this will break bio shock 1 in Windows vista and Windows 7. Recommend you un-install this to play the first one, then play bio shock 2.... hours of fun to be had..;)

On its own its a decent shooter, as part of the Bioshock universe it is seriously shoddy. It is a direct port of Bioshock without a single care given to there own backstory, ie, the Big Daddy is not a fearsome creature with epic damage reduction, its equally as weak as the squishy bloke you played in the first 1 with the game relying on Medkit spamming just as it did before.

Don't get me wrong its a good game, just a very dissapointing 1. Its clear they didn't really put much effort in.

Well playing as a big daddy if you were fearsome and could kill mostly anything without being hurt yourself, it'd be a really easy game..

Its a trade off. you play as a big daddy and can either harvest or cure the little sisters, and now big sisters are the fearsome creatures in Bioshock.

I can see what you mean, still I'm enjoying if. for £9.99 can't grumble too much. Hacking is better this time around, although it does seem to have made it a tad easier..

Ugh, got that completely wrong. Bought Bioshock 1 over the Christmas period and bought Bioshock 2 on release day.

I did play the first before the second.

I enjoyed the second game a bit more over the first. I might actually replay it again, takes a lot for a game to make me want to do that.

I very much enjoyed Bio 1 and after I upgraded my graphics card and monitor played it again all the way thro.
I could not wait for bioshock 2 and eagerly started playing it on release date.
I thought it was pants and got bored halfway thro it. I have not touched it since.
Very disapointed with it :(

Playing through at the moment. Gave MP a go but seemed a bit sparse on players.

With regard to your strength/stamina, I thought the story is that your weak having just woken up or whatever - hence not being uber powerful like the other big daddies.

It does seem like they haven't spent too much time on it - I assume thats to keep development time down and pull the $$$$ to pay for the film?

I'm slowly trundling through the single player at the moment. Not as engrossing as the first but its pretty fun.

I have found that I am dying allot more in this one though! Maybe I've been playing TF2 to long and keep calling for a medic

IIRC your an older type of big daddy, near the start the women says something about newer models saying you are no match for them, might explain the 'weakness'

Hmm that's right, isn't the big daddy you control the first big daddy that was bonded to a little sister?

I know you're not as stong as other big daddies, although you can as the game goes on get stronger and you can also use plasmids.. Come in handy..!!

Yeah, You've been out of action for 10 years, so there are new Big Daddys and obv the Sisters aswell

I didn't find the big daddy character that you get to play as was noticeably weak. The above point about older vs newer models is a good one.

Batman wasn't made for consoles?

I liked Bioshock 2 although I spoiled it. I decided it would be a good idea to re-play Bioshock 1 in the week before 2 was released.

Well... no it was a poor example. Graphics in Batman on the PC were noticably better when you cranked it up. Bio shock 2 however isn't that much better IMO.. upon saying this, I've not actually played Bio Shock 2 on a console but comparing Bio shock 2 to Batman Arkham, Batman Arkham is better looking... Again just IMO.

I would say that's mainly down to the game. I finished Batman on the PS3 and played the Demo on the PC. there wasn't much in it really. the PC version of multiplatform games tend to track just above the console version, mainly due to resolution and framerate. I haven't seen a multiplatform game where the PC version is different, just more more refined. I have Bioshock 2 on PC but haven't played the console version. If I watch net-resolution videos, I can't really see much difference.

I got it this week, I like it so far, only played about 1hr though. It feels and looks like a console game, shame there's no AA on DX10. I don't have particularly high expectations now I've read reviews of it, but before it was released I really hoped it'd be as good as the first.

i played it for a few hours before deciding it was shoot a few enemies then sniff around like a dog in a strangers house...

the only drive i got to play it past the second level was that it *might* get better, but ultimately for me it didn't...

gave up playing after the giant thing in the jar you electrocute.

i much preferred the 1st, it just felt more immersive and was very different from other games about - BS2 was more of the same with no real addition...
