Hi all

After recently getting married we have both decided to join our surnames together. I've read a bit on the internet that suggests the best way of making it completely legit is for both of us to change our names by Deed Poll.

The prices of the services offered vary from as low as £20 for both of us to £45 each. Has anyone used any online services to change their surname? If so can you recommend who you used? Did you have any issues trying to change official documents?

Thanks in advance

I've been thinking about this also, my Surname is different from my wife and sons double-barrelled one.

This was done so that my wife's family name didn't die out as she was the last decendent. (which incidently made us rather well-off).

Anyway I would like us all to have the same surname and don't mind changing mine as it would be simpler with Schools and such.

@Castiel

This is the main reason. My partner wants to keep her name hence hyphening but then when we have kids I will be the odd one out.

@Jonny69

Either way we still need Deed Poll recommendations! 4 posts and still 0 I notice...

Ah... thanks.

is the official one - just do it through them

I've found them and they are the most expensive. However they are NOT the official Deed Poll service. There is no such thing. They are a company called UK Deed Poll Service and that URL is their 'Official Website'. This is why i'm asking for recommendations.
