Dude you're mental.

Not enough power to a graphics card can kill it, don't ask me how. But it does...

Seriously.. what are you doing!? :p

Well I never jej has seriously hit the ball out of the park with his dell expectations.
I will bring one of my cards over and see if we can xfire them!

Not !!!!!

I have a dell XPS 420 and i recently replaced the 8800gt with a 5770 vapour-x and i thought i was pushing it.

I swear i will never buy from dell again!, given me sooo much greef :(.

I seriously wouldn't run that graphics card off of that PSU. Not enough power.

To all of you saying it's a rubbish quality PSU though, it isn't, it's of very good quality. The OEM for Dell's PSUs is Delta who make the Antec EarthWatts Green and TruePower New PSUs.

But this one just doesn't have the wattage needed.

I'm a bit confused/concerned with the air flow direction. CPU cooler getting its air thrown back at it!

The fan on the back of the cpu heatsink is drawing air from the heat sink out to The back of the case! Otherwise i would be stupid lol

You are usually meant to blow the heatsink with air from the fan on the heatsink itself, not draw air from it. I guess since you have a fan at the front of the case near in the heatsink it isn't so bad, but still, every heatsink i've seen that has a fan blows air onto it, not draw from it.

Is there a "stupidest thing to do with a pc" award being given out at OcUK now with the prize being a decent psu. Seriously although i am not convinced that system has got past post screen with just the 5870 in let alone adding the 8800gt to it still the daftest thing i have heard of anyone doing for a while. Still if you have the money to throw around m8 knock yourself out i am sure next you could buy a 400W psu from ebay and take that for a spin.

thats a delta focused flow fan on the front which came with the system, where it is positioned it does its job pretty well drawing cold air from outside the front of the case and directly on to the cpu heatsink which works pretty well.

I think there's a hole lot of snobbery going on in this thread from "superior" anti pre-built computer scoffers.
My sincerest apologies for putting my eye burning pictures of an oem computer, housing a gpu ,which it has no right to get its dirty circuity little fingers on! on this forum.
I would like to propose that whilst you obviously have superior computers and knowledge of the subject that "we all start somewhere" and the majority! i would take a bet started off with a less than adequate pre built machine!
