Hi all,

I've wired in an inverter using the supply to the cigarette lighter.
This works fine, and is only live when the engine is running.

Is there another fused 12 volt supply that I can use anywhere easy that will run when the ignition has been turned once (ie. all the other electrics/radio) work, and not just when the engine is running?

Thanks

Take a supply off the back of the stereo if that supply is switched as you wish..

Bad idea. Especially for something that is going to have a sizeable draw like an inverter.

What I would do is use a decent sized relay with a supply from somewhere like the stereo switched live (or even amp wire out of stereo) to switch, and run a supply directly from the battery.

He doesnt mention what it is for, now he has. It will be fine for a CB radio :)

My CB is wired in to the back of the radio, on the constant live feed with an extra 10a fuse, as above - it should be fine :)

Great, thanks all

(Sorry if I didn't make myself clear to begin with - it won't be an inverter, or a CB plugged into the inverter, just a CB wired in)

back of the radio live feed sounds great
